Jasmine Crockett ‘incredibly alarmed’ after Dallas police shooting proves threat was closer than she could have known

Texas Rep. Jasmine Crockett has spoken out about the March 11 shooting of Diamon‑Mazairre Robinson by Dallas police, confirming Robinson worked in her security detail under the alias “Mike King.”

In her statement, shared online, Crockett said her team “followed all protocols outlined by the House to contract additional security,” and that they were unaware he was using an alias or had outstanding warrants. While expressing her sympathy for Robnson’s family, she added,

The fact that an individual was able to somehow circumvent the vetting processes for something as sensitive as security for members of Congress highlights the loopholes and shortcomings in many of our systems. This is incredibly alarming, especially for those members who receive high volumes of credible and sophisticated death threats.”

Crockett captioned her post, in part, “As a former public defender, I’ve always believed people are more than the worst thing they’ve ever done. I believe in redemption. The man we knew showed up with respect, care, and commitment to protecting others.”

What happened to Diamon‑Mazairre Robinson?

According to reports, Dallas police were monitoring Robinson in connection with an active warrant, reportedly for impersonating a law enforcement officer, and possibly related offenses. On March 11, officers followed him to the Children’s Health Hospital parking garage at about 11 p.m. and found him barricaded inside a vehicle.

After an hour of negotiation, officers deployed tear gas to force Robinson out. He emerged and pointed a handgun at officers, which led SWAT to fire and fatally shoot him. Robinson was pronounced dead at the scene. Police recovered multiple weapons, including at least one stolen firearm.

Robinson had become known locally as a security professional, running a business placing off‑duty law enforcement officers in gigs and claiming law enforcement credentials.

Robinson, as “Mike King,” was reportedly employed by Crockett’s office and campaign to provide security at events and on the campaign trail during her recent primary run for Senate, which she lost to James Talarico.

He was paid for “security services” as recently as 2025, including at least one documented payment of around $340 for contracted services.

Public reporting has not confirmed exactly how Robinson secured the contract, but he presented himself as a legitimate security professional, allegedly running a firm that placed off‑duty police officers in jobs.

Robinson’s criminal record

Robinson had a history of multiple arrests for theft in the Dallas area between roughly 2009 and 2012, including both misdemeanor and felony charges. He reportedly pleaded guilty in each case, receiving fines and probation rather than long incarcerations.

Beyond theft convictions, Robinson is believed to have impersonated a law enforcement officer, including telling others he was a U.S. Capitol Police detective, according to law enforcement sources. This alleged false claim may have contributed to a federal investigation and the active warrant that led to the fugitive unit’s involvement.

A comment on Crockett’s post noted, “If this company and person passed the scrutiny of the vetting process with the [United States Capitol Police], then we’ve got a really big issue. This guy couldn’t even legally possess a firearm outside of his home.”
