JD Vance tries to gaslight U.S. by backing away from his claims that ICE agents have ‘absolute immunity’ but the internet has receipts

JD Vance wants you to forget what he said two weeks ago.

ICE has gone too far and even the politicians who stood by them after the shooting of Renee Nicole Good have backtracked. Case in point: JD Vance, who is now trying to convince the nation that he never stated ICE agents should have “absolute immunity.” Unfortunately for him, cameras are a thing, and there is definitive proof that he really did say that.

ICE has been ramping up the violence ever since the killing of Good earlier this month. Now, the public execution of Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minnesota seems to have been a step too far for some, although not all U.S. lawmakers agree. Prior to Pretti’s murder, JD Vance had already begun dialling back his unwavering support for ICE but let’s not forget, he played a big part in letting these agents believe they could get away with such a despicable act in the first place.

Speaking last week the vice president denied ever saying that federal officers should enjoy immunity for their actions. On Thursday Vance told the press, “I didn’t say, and I don’t think any other official within the Trump administration said that officers who engaged in wrongdoing would enjoy immunity, that’s absurd.” There’s just one issue with his statement. He definitely did say that.

JD Vance is called out for his lies

Following the shooting of Renee Nicole Good, Vance claimed that federal officers engaged in federal business are protected by “absolute immunity,” those were his exact choice of words. He stated this in his defence of the actions of Jonathan Ross, the man who shot and killed Good. The two contrasting statements from Vance have been played side-by-side to show the sheer hypocrisy.

Once again, the Trump administration is asking us to ignore our own eyes and the video evidence in front of us. Just like the president himself, Vance is happy to say whatever he needs to be convincing to the people in that moment, regardless of if his statement contradicts what he said a couple of weeks ago, or even a couple of hours ago.

“He works for Trump and will say anything to protect the lies.” wrote one person who’s clearly fed up with the constant fabrications of this administration. Another suggested that Vance had “switched the goalposts” by adding the word “wrongdoing,” stating that Vance would “never accuse ICE of wrongdoing.”

Despite his backtracking, Vance is still staunchly pro-ICE and is instead opting to point the finger at local and state officials for the federal agency’s mistakes. But ICE and its lack of qualified officers is the real culprit and Vance’s absolute immunity statement may have even played a part in emboldening agents to think they could get away with their excessive violence.
