‘Keystone Kash’: Brown University shooter still at large as pressure builds in ‘incompetent’ Kash Patel

Almost all mass shooting perpetrators never leave the scene of their crime. Whether they’re arrested on the spot, die by their own hand, or perish in a hail of police bullets, it’s vanishingly rare for them to leave the scene of the crime successfully.

But the Brown University shooter has done just that, and three days later, authorities still haven’t identified a suspect. Pressure is now building on FBI director Kash Patel, who once again rushed to social media to prematurely announce that his agency had tracked down a person of interest, only for them to be released without charge.

This has obvious echoes of the days after Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Just as here, Patel said the FBI had their man and quickly had to make an embarrassing climbdown. In the end, the combined efforts of the FBI and local enforcement came to nothing, with that suspect effectively handing himself in to authorities.

Useless

Bungling an active investigation once is a bad look for an FBI director. Twice? It’s beginning to look like outright incompetence. Ron Filipkowski of Meidas Touch summed it up:

Patel had already been dubbed “Keystone Kash” after dropping the ball on the Kirk investigation, and as hours and days tick by with this dangerous killer on the loose, the nickname may become permanent.

There are rumors of Trump ending 2025 with a shake-up of top jobs in his administration, clearing out those who’ve become an embarrassment to him. If that’s true, we have to imagine that Patel must be top of the list, as his useless antics are dragging the reputation of the Trump administration down with him.
