Kilmar Abrego Garcia arrested by ICE again, this time they’re going to deport him even further away

The Trump administration refuses to leave U.S. citizen Kilmar Abrego Garcia alone. Even after his horrific ordeal in El Salvador, which he endured for almost three months, Garcia is being persecuted by the government.

The 30-year-old construction worker from Maryland was returned to the U.S. in June but is now facing the possibility of being ejected from the country once more after being arrested on Monday. This time however, it won’t be to the inhumane nightmare prison in El Salvador, instead Garcia is set to possibly be sent even further away: Uganda.

Why was Kilmar Abrego Garcia arrested?

According to local news Abrego Garcia was released from a Tennessee jail on Friday as he is currently awaiting trial on human trafficking charges. The Trump administration has been trying to deport him ever since it was forced to bring him back. However, in the past, judges have blocked the deportation citing a lack of evidence to support the charges.

While he celebrated his freedom last week his attorneys were told that he would be deported after his release due to him refusing to plead guilty to the charges. Abrego Garcia had been offered a deal to be deported to Costa Rica where he would be accepted as a legal immigrant, as long as he pled guilty to the human smuggling charges.

Abrego Garcia turned himself in on Monday although he took the time to speak at a rally before doing so. Speaking through a translator, he spoke defiantly, “This administration has hit us hard, but I want to tell you guys something: God is with us, and God will never leave us.”

The Trump administration has it in for Kilmar

Upon his arrest, Trump lap dog Kristi Noem doubled down on the narrative that Abrego Garcia is a criminal.

“President Trump is not going to allow this illegal alien, who is an MS-13 gang member, human trafficker, serial domestic abuser, and child predator to terrorize American citizens any longer.”

However, he has yet to have a fair trial to determine his guilt. However, the connection to MS-13 isn’t particularly strong, unless you count the obviously doctored photos that fooled Donald Trump.

Abrego Garcia’s attorney accused the administration of “holding Costa Rica as a carrot and using Uganda as a stick,” speaking outside the ICE field office in Baltimore, he stated, “They’re weaponizing the immigration system in a way that’s completely unconstitutional.” The charges brought against Abrego Garcia have been labeled as a “punishment” because he challenged his initial deportation.

Whatever the case, the decision to fight the charges brought against him have now put Abrego Garcia at risk of being deported even further away than last time. He has since filed a lawsuit seeking to put an order in place preventing him from being deported without having the chance to contest it according to his attorney.
