Once a prince, now stripped of his titles, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been clinging on to what remains of his royal life. But it may all be over for him now as King Charles has confirmed that he will aid any investigations into his brother if approached by police.
The Epstein files which have been made public so far contain plenty of new evidence which could very well incriminate Andrew. While the Queen’s alleged favorite son may have been able to hide behind a veil of secrecy and ignorance before, there’s no more hiding as his connections to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell become more and more clear.
As such it seems the rest of Andrew’s family have seen the writing on the wall and are ready to drag him out into the light, for better or for worse. According to The Guardian, King Charles has expressed “profound concern” over the allegations leveraged against Andrew and will “stand ready to support” the police if they were to approach him over the claims.
What does this mean for Andrew?
Well, it seems like Andrew might have to face the music pretty soon, and this time his family won’t be protecting him. Thames Valley police confirmed this week that they were assessing claims made against Andrew that he had shared confidential reports with Jeffrey Epstein during his time as government trade envoy.
He is suspected of forwarding official reports regarding overseas trips to Singapore, China, Hong Kong, and Vietnam between 2010 and 2011.
While the investigation isn’t looking into the more serious allegations relating to sex trafficking and sexual assault, which the files allude to, it does show that the former prince is no longer viewed as being above the law. Perhaps this investigation could be the first of many. A Buckingham Palace spokesperson explained that Charles was concerned with the current and potential future allegations against his brother.
“The king has made clear, in words and through unprecedented actions, his profound concern at allegations which continue to come to light in respect of Mr Mountbatten-Windsor’s conduct.”
They went on to add that the “specific claims in question are for Mr Mountbatten-Windsor to address,” but, “if we are approached by Thames Valley police, we stand ready to support them as you would expect.”
Thames Valley police are also investigating an allegation made by a second woman who claims she was sent to the U.K. in 2010 by Epstein to meet with the then-prince. It seems as though authorities are taking the allegations against Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor seriously, and from the looks of things, the royal family won’t be protecting him this time. Whether Andrew will actually face justice or not remains to be seen.
