Former DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is still attracting headlines after taking a backseat from public life, but this time it has everything to do with her personal life instead of politics. In a bizarre twist of events, Kristi and her husband, Bryson Noem, are facing allegations that their marriage is falling apart. But Kristi is blaming it all on “the socialist, liberal, left.”
Bryon has borne the brunt of the criticism, however. He has been the subject of immense ridicule, and even in the New York Post exclusive where his side of the story is told, the headline called him a “cuckhold.” Bryon is said to be powering through the “humiliation” because of his religious background.
This entire situation has taken on a life of its own because, leading up to Noem’s firing by Trump, her alleged affair made it all the way to the floor of Congress. According to Yahoo, Trump found out about his former Homeland Security Secretary’s alleged affair with his former campaign manager Corey Lewandowski and was finally ready to change the leadership at the DHS.
Lewandowski has had his fair share of controversies, so it’s very unlikely that Trump was moved by anything related to Lewandowski’s views on the current political landscape. But the administration has made it clear that it is abandoning the specific immigration policy it had given Kristi Noem the mandate to lead, and it is also facing a $200 million scandal at the DHS. So it’s a situation where opportunity simply met readiness.
During Kristi’s Congressional grilling, the former DHS Secretary was quick to attack the line of questioning about Lewandowski but notably didn’t deny that she ever had an affair with the “special government employee.” Noem retorted, “The socialist, liberal, left — what you do is go off and attack conservative women. You say that we’re either stupid or we’re s–ts. That’s what you do. And I’ll tell you, sir, I’m neither.”
As for Bryon, apparently he’s sticking through the downside of their marriage because of his religious beliefs. Reportedly, one family member said, “He said he decided about 20 years ago that it was his calling from God to support her in whatever she decided to do. So he has put up with the humiliation. We will see if he sticks with her now.” Another relative added that his decision had more to do with their shared children, saying, “Bryon is a Christian man, and he believes that marriage is forever. He’s very close with his children. I’m sure this is really hard on them.”
Noem eventually responded to all the reporting about her marriage. The former DHS Secretary said, “I think the ridiculousness of this and the tabloids that you are quoting and referencing are insane. And this has been something that I’ve refuted for years, and I continue to do that.”
But Bryson’s family reportedly are not over the fact that when she was asked about the affair under oath, she couldn’t deny it. And during all of this, one can’t help but notice how the very egregious allegations that Noem misappropriated $220 million at the DHS have quietly faded into the background.
