Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) speaks during a press conference on the House January 6 Committee hearings at the U.S. Capitol on June 15, 2022 in Washington, DC. Greene and other lawmakers spoke out against the Committee investigating the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol and the conditions of the D.C. jail where many prisoners arrested in connection to the attack are being held. Marjorie Taylor Greene references the Civil War and threatens ‘modern day tyrants’ after Trump indictment

Donald Trump has been indicted, and his biggest cheerleader is already ominously referencing the Civil War.

Very soon Donald Trump will appear in court for his arraignment on felony charges over a hush money payment made to porn star Stormy Daniels. It seems likely that he’ll be fingerprinted, get a mug shot taken, and possibly handcuffed for his moment in court. However all this shakes out expect intense drama from both sides of the political sphere, though many Republicans have already cranked up their rhetoric to 11.

Trump’s most ardent cheerleader Marjorie Taylor Greene wasted no time. In a series of worrying tweets, she said “the gloves are off”, claimed that this is a “witch hunt”, and went on to effectively call for a new Civil War:

Well, if you wanted to tiptoe along the line of encouraging people to commit violent acts of retribution against Democrats, this is how you’d do it. Then again, we suspect the irony of her referencing Gettysburg, one of the most decisive battles of the Civil War where the Confederate Army came out on the losing side, may be lost on her.

Either way, expect many more comments like this from Greene over the next week. If one of her supporters does indeed decide to take matters into their own hands “just like our founding fathers did,” expect her to frantically slam on the brakes. Regardless of what happens, it’s going to be a dramatic week in politics.

Manhattan is preparing itself for violent protests as we speak, and any court appearance by Trump will be seized upon for propaganda purposes by both sides. He’ll no doubt try to spin this as proof that the Deep State is out to get him, but hey, maybe he shouldn’t have cheated on his wife with a porn star if he didn’t want to get in trouble.
