Melania Trump insists she’s not tied to Epstein; ‘I met my husband by chance at a New York Party’

Time for someone else to deny connections despite existing proof.

Melania Trump has made a bombshell announcement, demanding that the “lies” being spread about her in connection with Jeffrey Epstein must end. She also called on Congress to allow open testimony from the Epstein victims. Her public declaration marks a significant moment, considering the current state of the investigation into Epstein.

According to The Daily Beast, Melania was firm about her involvement when speaking to reporters at the White House. “I have never had any knowledge of Epstein’s abuse of his victims,” she stated. “I was never involved in any capacity—I was not a participant, was never on Epstein’s plane, and never visited his private island.”

Reading from a prepared statement, Melania acknowledged that she had attended the same parties as Epstein “from time to time,” as “overlapping in social circles is common.” She was also quick to deny legal connections: “I have never been legally accused or convicted of a crime in connection with Epstein’s sex trafficking, abuse of minors, and other repulsive behavior.”

The timing of this particular statement seems interesting

The first lady emphasized that “the false smears about me from mean-spirited and politically motivated individuals and entities looking to cause damage to my good name to gain financially and climb politically must stop.” Additionally, Melania specifically said that she “never had a relationship with the convicted sex offender or his accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell.” In the past, she has even refused to talk about Maxwell.

Despite her denials, a gushing 2002 email from Trump to Maxwell was released in the Epstein files. It praised a New York magazine article about Epstein and complimented Maxwell. It started with, “Dear G! How are you? Nice story about JE in NY mag. You look great in the picture.” Melania dismissed this email exchange as “a casual response.”

It is unclear what suddenly prompted Melania to make her statement. She referred to “numerous images of Epstein and me” circulating on social media, though it wasn’t specified if these were new or previously published. The first lady also took aim at the media, noting that she and her lawyers have fought “unfounded and baseless lies” in the past and “will continue to maintain my sound reputation without hesitation.”

One of the biggest voices linking Melania to Epstein, and the claims she refuted, is author and journalist Michael Wolff. Last year, she even threatened a lawsuit because of remarks from his podcast about Trump and Epstein’s relationship.

Per Axios, her suit found several of his statements and posts defamatory. These include Wolff’s comments that implied she was “very involved” in Epstein’s circle and that the Trumps’ marriage is a “sham.” Wolff argues his claims were either taken out of context, not authored by him, or were protected opinions backed by facts.

He maintains, “It is not defamatory to say that Mrs. Trump is actively managing the present White House response to the controversy.” He believed the suit was to intimidate people into staying silent. In a later Instagram post, he said he would like to get the Trumps under oath, to “find out all of the details of their relationship with Epstein.”

In her statement, Melania made it clear that Epstein did not introduce her to President Trump, contrary to past claims. “I met my husband, by chance, at a New York Party in 1998,” she explained. “This initial encounter with my husband is documented in detail in my book, MELANIA.”

Her comments, particularly her urging Congress to hear the testimony of victims, is a shift from Trump’s approach. The president has distanced himself from the Epstein files, often branding the firestorm surrounding it a “Democratic hoax.” Melania, however, specifically stated, “Now is the time for Congress to act.”

Melania ended with a powerful plea in support of Epstein’s victims. “I call on Congress to provide the women who have been victimized by Epstein with a public hearing specifically centered around the survivors,” she urged.

“Give these victims their opportunity to testify under oath in front of Congress, with the power of sworn testimony. Each and every woman should have her day to tell her story in public, if she wishes, and then her testimony should be permanently entered into the Congressional Record. Then, and only then, will we have the truth.”
