‘Modern day Hitler Youth’: Laura Loomer slams Tucker Carlson for turning GOP into Nazis ‘with a drizzle of Sharia Law on top’

Broken clocks and all that...

The Republican Party being absolutely infested with Nazis isn’t exactly breaking news. It seems like a week can’t go by without some Washington staffer being discovered saying and doing some objectively Nazi stuff, whether it be proudly displaying a swastika in their office, threatening to put their enemies in gas chambers, or simply saying “I love Hitler“.

Now Laura Loomer, who, for all her many faults, doesn’t like actual literal Nazis, is blaming Tucker Carlson for this development. She claims he’s engaged in a “hostile takeover” of the GOP, and wants to turn it “into modern-day Hitler youth with a drizzle of Sharia Law on top”:

“I support national sovereignty, and Hitler was a nationalist.”

She may have a point. Gen Z Republicans’ Hitler fandom was only underlined when The City Journal gathered young Trump voters for a focus group and asked them what they thought of Hitler. They went on to praise him for being a “great leader” with “very strong leadership values”. One said:

I support national sovereignty, and Hitler was a nationalist. He was like, we have to take Germany back for Germans. And I feel like we should do that in America. We should take America back for our native population. So, I’m not an expert on Hitler by any means, but as far as nationalism is concerned, I’m all that.

One of those present was Jewish, and even they thought ol’ Uncle Adolf might just have been a little misunderstood:

“I’ve actually read Mein Kampf. The end conclusions that he came to: absolutely abominable. But I strangely understood where he was coming from as far as wanting to improve the national state of Germany.”

You have to be wilfully blind not to see the current parallels between Hitler’s regime and Trump’s America, perhaps the most obvious being that the government’s extrajudicial armed thugs are going around rounding up minorities and putting them in camps.

The only question is whether that’s something Americans will actually roundly condemn. Judging by the hateful replies Loomer receives whenever she calls out the worrying Nazification of the Republican Party, I somehow doubt it!
