Last night Donald Trump addressed the nation to clear up some misconceptions about his war in Iran. Contrary to what you might have seen on the news or with your own eyes, it’s actually going really well. Could have fooled me!
Trump said “all of America’s military objectives” are practically complete, that the conflict should be over in a couple of weeks, and that Iran is thoroughly defeated. Big if true!
Trump has long tried to maintain a reality bubble: if he just lies hard enough and long enough, it somehow becomes truth. Unfortunately, this doesn’t really work in a war. Trump is now trapped in a chaotic and expanding conflict with no clear objectives, and the supposedly vanquished enemy is still actively mocking him while firing missiles at US military bases.
Marjorie Taylor Greene, formerly one of Trump’s most passionate cheerleaders has had enough. Over the last year, her disgust over the GOP’s approach to the Epstein files curdled into an outright dislike of Trump, but his breaking his campaign promise of “no new wars” has made her actively hostile to him:
I wanted so much for President Trump to put America First.
— Former Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene🇺🇸 (@FmrRepMTG) April 2, 2026
That’s what I believed he would do.
All I heard from his speech tonight was WAR WAR WAR.
Nothing to lower the cost of living for Americans.
Nothing to reduce our near $40 trillion in debt.
Nothing to save Social Security,…
Greene says that she still desperately hoped Trump would live up to the “America First” policies that got him into the White House. But, after ripping his mask off, it seems there was just another Bush-era neo-con lurking underneath. As she concludes:
“Nothing for America’s future. I’m so beyond done. I pray for our military and their families. I pray for innocent people all over the world. I pray for peace and prosperity for all.”
“I’m so beyond done”
One of the more unexpected twists in this tale is that Greene is now somehow ideologically aligned with democratic socialists like Bernie Sanders. Just last week, Sanders said effectively the same thing:
Health care? "You're on your own."
— Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) March 26, 2026
Housing? "Nothing we can do."
Grocery prices? "You're out of luck."
$200 billion for another war? "No problem!"
Americans—Democrats, Republicans, independents—are SICK AND TIRED of endless wars.
We need to invest here at home.

Greene is wrong about almost everything, but to her credit, she actually seems to sincerely care about making regular Americans’ lives better. It’s just a shame she generally chooses to go about it in the dumbest possible way.
Meanwhile, Trump and his cronies pay lip service to that, but anyone with eyes can see they don’t care at all. Whenever Trump is asked about the skyrocketing price of gas and what that means for regular folk, he just smirks, shrugs, and says you can cope with hardship for a bit. And all the while, he and his buddies are siphoning your money directly into their bank accounts.
Here’s hoping Greene follows her politics to their logical conclusion, perhaps even admitting that she and Sanders have more in common than most assume.
