‘Prosecute these monsters’: Marjorie Taylor Greene disobeys Trump and votes for full Epstein files discharge

Sure, Marjorie Taylor Greene might be a conduit for racist garbage, calls for the execution of her political opponents, thinks 9/11 was a hoax, and has pushed some truly insane legislation that seeks to ban “weather modifiers” she believes the government is secretly using to cause natural disasters, but when she’s right, she’s right.

House Republicans are currently torn over the discharge petition designed to force a House vote to compel the release of Jeffrey Epstein-related files held by the Justice Department. The petition is led by GOP Rep. Thomas Massie and Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna, and will need both sides to work together to pass.

Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson is trying his hardest to make this go away, dismissing it as “political games” and “meaningless”, urging his fellow Republicans to ignore this in favor of a Trump-approved disclosure.

But Greene and many other Republicans simply want to know the truth and are clearly smelling a rat. Greene has now confirmed she’ll cast her vote in favor of the bill, posting on X that she’s “committed to doing everything possible for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein”. Speaking to press, she said:

I’m committed to doing everything possible for the victims of Jeffrey Epstein.

Including exposing the cabal of rich and powerful elites that enabled this.

“As a woman and a mother of two daughters I can’t imagine any young girl or any young woman being victimized and having the government and different people in power and basically a cabal of powerful, rich people as well as the government cover it up and not prosecute these monsters.”

She went on to praise the Epstein victims:

“These are some of the most courageous women I’ve ever met. These are women who’ve never truly seen justice and have gone out and named names and done everything they can, and they have been failed horrifically.”

Last night, Johnson released 33,000 pages of the Epstein files in an attempt to make this discharge petition “moot”, saying his actions mean it’s now “superfluous”. But a quick glance at the files he’s released indicates a smokescreen: they’re heavily redacted to the point where some pages are just black bars and, in any event, most of them were already public information.

Robert Garcia, the top Democratic representative on the oversight committee told Americans “don’t let this fool you,” and vowed to continue cross-party cooperation to ensure that the truth is exposed and the victims receive justice.
