Senator begs Israel to stop attacking oil assets, citing humanitarian reasons, but we all know it is just about the oil

Lindsey Graham has urged Israel to scale back its attacks on Iranian fuel infrastructure, a plea that comes as oil prices in the U.S. have spiked due to concerns about supply. He made his appeal on X, praising Israel’s “amazing capability when it comes to collapsing the murderous regime in Iran.” He added that America is “most appreciative” of their efforts. However, he quickly shifted tone.

“There will be a day soon that the Iranian people will be in charge of their own fate, not the murderous ayatollah’s regime,” Graham posted. He then advised Israel to “be cautious about what targets you select,” emphasizing that the goal should be to liberate the Iranian people without crippling their chance to build a new life once the current regime collapses. Graham stressed that “the oil economy of Iran will be essential to that endeavor.” 

This call for caution follows reports that the Trump administration was reportedly surprised by recent Israeli strikes. Over the weekend, Israeli forces targeted approximately 30 Iranian fuel depots. Where it gets really interesting is that the office statement from officials was,

“The president doesn’t like the attack. He wants to save the oil. He doesn’t want to burn it. And it reminds people of higher gas prices.”

It is always about oil, and it makes Graham’s plea seem comical

The economic fallout has been immediate and noticeable. On Monday, oil prices soared past $100 per barrel, driven by the ongoing U.S. and Israeli operations against Iran. Despite the current surge, Energy Secretary Chris Wright offered a more optimistic outlook, saying that the price hikes caused by the Iranian operation wouldn’t last for an extended period. 

“Look, you never know exactly the time frame of this, but, in the worst case, this is a weeks, this is not a months thing,” Wright stated, trying to reassure the public that this isn’t a long-term problem.

That being said, Graham is usually a vocal supporter of the President. He often parrots Trump, pushing the president’s agenda at every available opportunity. Recently, he has been echoing Trump about the takeover of Cuba. So it isn’t surprising that he has chided Israel for its actions. After all, how dare they touch the oil? 

It is just incredibly amusing that he tried to wrap it up in a humanitarian effort. Give it up, Graham. None of you are remotely humane at the moment.
