Yesterday Rudy Giuliani was involved in a car wreck in New Hampshire that left the 81-year-old hospitalized in serious condition. Giuliani was rushed to a New Hampshire trauma center, where he was treated for a fractured thoracic vertebrae, multiple cuts and bruises, as well as injuries to his left arm and lower leg.
Soon afterwards, his personal Head of Security, Michael Ragusa, put out an official statement giving their version of events:

To summarize: Giuliani was driving through New Hampshire at night when a woman flagged his vehicle down for help with a domestic violence incident. Giuliani nobly pulled over to help her and summoned 911, waiting with her until cops arrived.
After having safely left the woman with the cops, Giuliani returned to his vehicle and began driving again. At some point afterwards, a random vehicle struck him from behind at high speed, wrecking his car and injuring him.
It’s a confusing story, as there’s no obvious connection between the woman he apparently assisted and the car rear-ending him an indeterminate amount of time later. As such, eyebrows are currently raised, and there’s a suspiciously fishy smell in the air.
The truth will come out
Ragusa went on to reveal a few more things in the comments. The collision was not intentional and Giuliani was not specifically targeted. But many quickly wondered why this statement contains such “oddly specific details” that don’t relate to the collision itself:

Giuliani’s official story should be easy to confirm. After all, the woman he “assisted” was picked up by the cops, so there will be a record of what happened next. Similarly, the driver of the car that struck him will have been identified at the scene and will face some consequences, even if that’s just an insurance claim.
As for what might have actually happened? Well, I don’t want to speculate before knowing all the facts. But let’s face it, there’s a reason men driving around at night pull up to the curb and begin chatting to random women, and it’s generally not to help victims of domestic violence. Here’s hoping we get some more details to help us fill in the blanks very soon.
