Taxpayer dollars at work: Donald Trump and the Justice Department wasted resources chasing Joe Biden over autopen use

Meanwhile, real problems can wait.

Donald Trump seemed to be obsessed with his political opponent Joe Biden and his use of the autopen during his presidency. He has harped on about it constantly, even taking the opportunity to make an immature jab with his White House portrait. However it goes much deeper than that as it turns out Trump and the Justice Department were actually trying to prosecute Biden over it.

While the prospective case against the 46th president has since been dropped it just goes to show how petty and vindictive the current egotistical president and wannabe dictator can be (of course we knew that already). According to the Independent, the investigation began back in 2025 although it quickly stalled as veteran prosecutors were unsure what crime exactly Biden had committed by using the autopen.

This attempt to prosecute Biden is just one example of Trump trying to launch federal investigations into political rivals because nothing screams democracy like trying to lock away the politicians who disagree with you.

Going after his predecessor seems a bit pointless when he’s already technically won via the 2024 election, but Trump is a petty man and it’s well known that revenge is one of his biggest motivators. Thankfully the case against Biden seems to have fallen through indicating that there are still some sane people out there.

Donald Trump has always had an issue with Biden’s autopen use

The president has long claimed that the use of the autopen was indicative of Biden’s cognitive decline. He’s even claimed that his rival’s use of the pen voided all documents he signed including his last minute pardon of Biden family members like his son, Hunter.

We all know that Trump is weirdly obsessed with Biden and the autopen but trying to prosecute him for it seems like a step too far and a huge waste of time and money. If the Justice Department has been investigating since 2025 and not been able to build a case it surely proves Biden is not the criminal MAGA have tried to paint him as.

Of course, this doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Surely Trump must have known this would not lead to a criminal prosecution and yet he still decided to waste time and taxpayer dollars to try it anyway. On X people expressed their frustration with the fruitless task, “They wasted our tax dollars for a bulls–t investigation,” wrote one angry critic.

But then again that’s just Trump’s MO all over, spending taxpayer money to fulfil his own selfish desires without actually doing anything to actually help those who are basically paying his check. He can try and convince the people that Biden is a criminal all he wants, but the results investigation speak for itself. Trump is nothing more than a sad little man with a vendetta.
