‘That has become a badge of honor’: Marjorie Taylor Green takes pride in Trump labelling her a ‘traitor’

She is willing to be called names if it's because she is standing her ground.

Marjorie Taylor Greene, the former Representative from Georgia, recently responded to President Trump calling her a “traitor,” saying she actually takes pride in the label. Greene posted on X, explaining that the label has become “a badge of honor.”

She shared her reasoning, stating that she isn’t in his “cult,” that she refused to “bow to his demands to cover up the Epstein files to protect his friends,” and that she has stopped “fighting the hardest for a team that intentionally refuses to win.”  This whole situation kicked off earlier this month when Trump endorsed Clay Fuller to take Greene’s place.

According to The Hill, Greene had resigned from her House seat, representing Georgia’s 14th congressional district, at the start of the year. Speaking to reporters on Air Force One, Trump made his feelings clear, saying, “Well, we have a lot of people that want to take Marjorie ‘Traitor’ Greene’s place.”

I appreciate that she is sticking to her new stance

It’s a big shift for Greene, who was once known as a very loyal supporter of Trump. She’s become increasingly vocal in her criticisms of him. Her issues range from the Epstein files, which she seems very passionate about, to Trump’s directives and decisions as the President. From military operations in foreign countries to Republicans failing to extend Affordable Care Act subsidies. It seems like her list of grievances has been growing over time.

Trump is actually expected to visit her former congressional district this Thursday. This visit is happening right before the special election on March 10, which will determine who replaces Greene. Right now, there are 18 candidates all vying for Greene’s old seat. If no single candidate manages to snag more than 50 percent of the vote, then a runoff election will be held on April 7. It looks like this race could go down to the wire.

Clay Fuller, the candidate Trump is backing, is currently a district attorney. He actually came in fourth place in the 2020 Republican primary, which Greene ultimately won on her path to her first term in office. Trump made his endorsement on Truth Social, writing, “Clay Fuller has my Complete and Total Endorsement to be the next Representative from Georgia’s 14th Congressional District – HE WILL NOT LET YOU DOWN!”

Greene hasn’t just stopped at the “traitor” label, though. She also warned earlier this month that the “MAGA brand is all a ‘lie.’” She described Trump’s first year back in office as being primarily focused on obliging wealthy supporters. In an interview with a radio personality, Greene stated, “I think people are realizing it was all a lie. It was a big lie for the people. What MAGA is really serving in this administration, who they’re serving, is their big donors.”
