‘The motherboard’s fried’: As Trump flames country, Nancy Mace demands staff rate her the hottest one of all

"One of the worst people I've ever met."

A New York Magazine exposé, “Nancy Mace is Not Okay,” has revealed what it’s like in Nancy Mace‘s office, as a former staffer told reporter Jake Lahut, the South Carolina Republican Rep made another aide upvote her in Reddit forums about who’s the hottest member of Congress.

Additionally, anonymous former aides said they were often fearful of Mace and described a workplace environment that frequently left staff in tears. “She would threaten to fire them, take their money away, not give them raises, not to give them days off, religious days,” one aide told Lahut. Reportedly, Mace also directed aides to run late-night booze errands, allegedly abused alcohol and substances, and asked staff to clean her personal rental properties.

Other ex-staffer comments included, “After six months, I was like, ‘Man, this is “one of the worst people I’ve ever met.'” And another added, “Something’s broken. The motherboard’s fried. We’re short-circuiting somewhere,” referring to Mace.

Staffers said her behavior worsened after her February 2026 speech on the House floor, accusing her ex-fiancé, Patrick Bryant, of physical and sexual assault.

These claims “Don’t even merit a response”

Meanwhile, Mace’s Director of Operations, Cameron Morabito, called those accusations “ridiculous,” telling New York Magazine, “they don’t even merit a response,” adding, “I hope she sues you for every dime you got paid to write this defamatory bulls—t.”

Politics & Poll Tracker on X found evidence of Reddit forums rating politicians’ attractiveness in bikinis and swimsuits, and one comparing Mace and fellow MAGA politician Lauren Boebert.

Mace: “A hit piece”

On X, Mace called the New York Magazine article “a hit piece,” adding in part, ” … the establishment doesn’t go after people who fall in line. They go after people who don’t. I’ll take that as a compliment.”

Mace has faced criticism before over a highly publicized airport altercation, where she allegedly berated TSA and police personnel. She called it a “falsified” report. There is also an ongoing House Ethics Committee review, and earlier public disputes with former aides accusing them of sabotaging her career.

In 2025, Mace left a House Oversight Committee briefing with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse in tears, saying she suffered a “full-blown panic attack” as the women shared their experiences. Video and eyewitness reports showed her wiping away tears and appearing visibly shaken as she exited the closed-door session early, declining to answer questions from reporters.

Mace later explained on social media that hearing the survivors’ testimony triggered intense emotional and physical reactions — including sweating, hyperventilating, shaking, and difficulty breathing — linking it to her own history as a sexual assault survivor. Someone noted that incident in a comment responding to the New York Magazine article, stating, “She left the Epstein hearings in tears and I haven’t heard from her since.”
