U.S. Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY) speaks to reporters following a series of votes at the U.S. Capitol on March 11, 2025 in Washington, DC. The House passed a bill to avert a Friday government shutdown by a 217-213 vote largely along party lines. The bill now moves to the Senate where it will need help from Democrats to move it past a filibuster. Massie was the sole Republican member who opposed the legislation. ‘They’re all tweeting the same’: Lone GOP rebel Thomas Massie exposes his colleagues after Trump marks him for political extinction

You come at the king, you best not miss.

MAGA has spent the last week insisting that Donald Trump is not a king. In fact, they could disagree with him anytime they wanted to, but why would they ever do that when he’s so obviously right about everything! Cast iron logic.

Well, that is now being sorely put to the test as the “America First” isolationists react with horror to Trump breaking his election promise and dragging the United States into yet another pointless and bloody war in the Middle East. Marjorie Taylor Greene is currently frantically trying to square this circle, but now Kentucky Congressman Thomas Massie is proving just what happens when you displease Dear Leader.

Massie is an outspoken libertarian and has made a name by voting against bills other Republicans have supported en masse. In the days since Israel attacked Iran, Massie has been trying his best to stop the United States from being involved, including cosponsoring a war powers resolution preventing Trump from engaging in “unauthorized hostilities” and saying on social media that the strikes over the weekend were “not constitutional”.

Now, Trump is demanding Massie’s scalp for his disobedience. In a (very) lengthy rant on TruthSocial, Trump dismissed Massie as a “grandstander”, “weak”, “ineffective”, “disrespectful”, a “LOSER”, and said he wants Iran to have a nuclear weapon. Trump wrapped things up by saying he’ll have a handpicked MAGA drone running against him in the Republican primary and vowing to personally campaign against him.

Massie strikes back

Massie shot back with a flippant response that Trump “declared so much War on me today it should require an Act of Congress”:

We already knew that Trump is petty and vindictive, and that he won’t tolerate any disobedience from the Republican party. Every Republican senator and congressperson knows that Trump can make or break their careers, with Massie now proof of what happens if you decide to make a stand against Trump.

If Massie is doomed, he’s not going down without a fight. In a fairly jaw-droppingly honest move for a Republican, Massie took aim at Israeli lobbying group AIPAC, pointing out that “somebody was persuasive” in twisting Republicans’ arms into supporting Israel. He even said that “If you look at my colleagues’ feeds now, they all look the same, they’re all tweeting the same message.”

Explicitly calling out AIPAC is an act of political suicide, as they can and will pour money into primarying you out of a job. With Trump now vowing to destroy him and AIPAC gearing up to take him down, it’ll be telling what happens to him over the next few months. Nothing good, that’s for sure.
