MAGA has been in conniptions about Bad Bunny‘s Super Bowl halftime show from the moment it was announced. Their fevered imaginations conjured up images of a televised anti-ICE protest played in front of a national audience, mockery of Trump and all he stands for, and harsh criticism of America.
What they got was a celebration of national identity, a plea for unity, a showcase of cultural excellence, all capped off with a heartfelt “God Bless America”. But none of this slowed the MAGA hate machine down even a little, as they promptly decided they were just going to react as if the halftime show were the radical left-wing protest they’d imagined.
But, as usual, one MAGA commentator said the quiet part out loud. I am, of course, talking about the inestimable Laura Loomer. Her contribution to the national discourse?

It should probably be underlined for the millionth time that Puerto Ricans are American citizens, but I’m sure Loomer knows that and is simply trying to farm Elon Musk’s X engagement dollars.
She’s saying what MAGA is really thinking
But when she says, “This isn’t White enough for me”? Weirdly, this makes her far more honest and accurate than every other far-right talking head who’s weighed in on the show. Ultimately, it’s not the message of Bad Bunny’s show, or the music, or even the fact that it was in Spanish – they don’t like him because he doesn’t pass the paper bag test and isn’t sufficiently Aryan for their tastes.
It’s just a shame that Loomer seems to have missed out on watching a sterling showcase of the best white culture has to offer over on Turning Point USA’s “All-American” Super Bowl”, where Kid Rock did Caucasians proud by poorly lip-syncing to ‘Bawitdaba’ while wearing jorts and a fedora. Here’s hoping Loomer got to watch this on YouTube so she can finally experience a performance that’s “White enough” for her.
