‘This keeps getting worse and worse’: Jeffrey Epstein’s prison video was likely ‘modified’ in ‘professional editing software’

The investigation into the notorious sex offender Jeffrey Epstein took a shocking turn last week when the DOJ announced there were no files and that the evidence suggested the financier did indeed kill himself. Footage from outside Epstein’s cell was even released to prove that he wasn’t murdered but experts have spotted something in the metadata that suggests the video was tampered with.

That’s right, as if people weren’t suspicious enough already it now seems as if the footage, which didn’t exactly prove all that much in the first place, has likely been modified in video editing software. An investigation from WIRED found that the supposed 11 hours of “raw” footage hadn’t come directly from the prison surveillance system, it originated from two source clips which had been saved multiple times and likely edited in software such as Adobe Premiere Pro.

What does this mean for the Jeffrey Epstein footage?

Unfortunately the metadata can’t tell us exactly what was changed and experts claim that it does not prove there was any deceptive manipulation of the footage, but it does raise some serious questions. Considering how skeptical people are of the official narrative right now you’d think the DOJ would want to eliminate as many loose ends as possible.

What can be gleaned from the metadata is the fact that the footage seems to be at least two separate source clips of Epstein’s cell stitched together. It’s possible that the editing software was used to simply stitch these videos together into one and nothing more, but it’s equally possible this is not all that was done. The file was reportedly saved four times during a 23 minute period by a Windows user account named “MJCOLE~1.” Whether edits were made between each save cannot be seen.

According to Hany Farid, a professor at UC Berkeley, the video released by the Justice Department would not hold up in court.

“If a lawyer brought me this file and asked if it was suitable for court, I’d say no. Go back to the source. Do it right. Do a direct export from the original system—no monkey business.”

According to him, digital evidence must be handled in the same way as physical evidence, that means the way it’s handled needs to preserve its integrity. The best way to show that nothing sketchy is going on is to actually release the raw undoctored footage straight from the prison’s servers.

People are suspicious

The current administration had been promising the release of the Epstein files for a long time. Despite this, nothing has come of it. Now we’re told that there are no files and we get some obviously edited footage with no explanation, this is a conspiracy theorists dream, and it’s hard to blame anyone for doubting the government’s narrative, especially considering they’re acting very sketchy.

On X many have already expressed their doubts over the Epstein case and they are calling out Donald Trump and the rest of his administration. One person wrote, “This keeps getting worse and worse. The question is how does the public respond to the obvious bulls**t that this is?” Another person simply wrote “Not exactly shocking.” demonstrating just how low trust is for this current administration.
