Trump says the U.S. 250th anniversary will be ‘a Rally to end all Rallies’ in Washington, after he canceled his Kennedy Center concert series

President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the United States’ 250th anniversary celebration will now take the form of a large rally in Washington, D.C., scheduled for June 24 at 7:00 PM.

In his post, Trump described the event as “a Rally to end all Rallies,” listing himself among the featured names alongside a select group of performers. 

The change comes after the Freedom 250 concert series, which had been promoted as the Great American State Fair, fell apart when six of the nine booked musical acts pulled out, according to Mediaite. Among those who reportedly had been scheduled to perform were Vanilla Ice, Bret Michaels, and the surviving member of Milli Vanilli. Trump subsequently called for the series to be canceled in a separate Truth Social post.

The situation was further complicated when a federal judge reportedly ordered that Trump’s name be removed from the Kennedy Center, where the concert series had originally been planned. In response, Trump took to Truth Social to criticize the ruling, calling the judge “highly conflicted” and “crooked”.

The Kennedy Center name dispute and the president’s response

In his post on Truth Social, the president shared his frustration about the legal ruling and the state of the center. He wrote, “Cancel it, just like I canceled my involvement with the failing and unsafe to be in Kennedy Center, because a Highly Conflicted, Crooked Federal Judge, said that I should not be allowed to spend my time and money in order to MAKE THE CENTER GREAT AGAIN, actually, far greater than it ever was before!” 

For the new rally, he said he no longer wants the singers who had been booked for the Freedom 250 series, writing that he does not want “singers with no talent, but big fees.”

The entertainment lineup, as described by Trump in his Truth Social post, includes Lee Greenwood, who will introduce the president, along with tenor Christopher Macchio (who Trump compared to the late Luciano Pavarotti). The event is also set to feature the U.S. Army Band Pershing’s Own, the Armed Forces Choir, and The President’s Own United States Marine Band, according to the post.

As part of the broader 250th anniversary plans, a 5,000-seat arena is reportedly being built on the White House lawn to host several UFC matches.

The UFC matches are scheduled for June 14, which also marks Trump’s 80th birthday. Trump has also suggested the arena could potentially remain on the White House grounds after the event concludes.
