Donald Trump is currently trying to pick a fight with Pope Leo XIV, having been infuriated by the pontiff’s heinous crime of… uh, trying to stop wars, save lives, and expressing horror at Trump’s increasingly unhinged threats to plunge the world into nuclear armageddon.
Last week, the Pope described Trump’s supervillainous threat that “an entire civilization will die tonight” as “unacceptable”. During an evening prayer service in St Peter’s Basilica, the Pope made a point of calling out ungodly behavior, saying: “Enough of the idolatry of self and money! Enough of the display of power! Enough of war!”
Idolatry of self and money? Huh. Who on Earth could he be referring to…?
Now Trump has hit back. Taking to Truth Social, he released yet another slurry of rambling and abusive run-on sentences with his usual combination of threats, insults, and praise for one Donald J. Trump:
Trust me, reading Trump’s word salad drivel isn’t worth your precious time, so I will summarize.
Trump says the Pope is weak on crime, says he prefers his brother Louis, argues that Pope wants Iran to get a nuke, waffles about the stock market and how great he is, says Leo is only Pope because of him, says the Pope is an “Obama sympathizer”, and demands he stay out of politics and stick to God stuff.
He also clearly believes he would be a better Pope, as shown by his advising the literal Pope on how to be a better Christian leader. It can only be underlined that Trump appears to break every single one of the seven deadly sins daily – and has likely broken all the ten commandments at one time or another.
Remind me why Christians support this blasphemous idiot?
Trump went on to post an objectively blasphemous image of himself as Jesus Christ, drawing condemnation from across the political and religious spectrum:

Trump is presumably both frustrated and envious of the Pope. After all, Pope Leo is one of the few world leaders he can’t bully, manipulate, or drop a bomb on, joining a very small club including Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping. We have to imagine that Trump would kill for his own version of papal infallibility, so every bit of garbage he spouts actually becomes true.
For his part, Pope Leo is refusing to get into the mud and wrestle Trump (figuratively speaking). In a statement to the Associated Press, he said:
“To put my message on the same plane as what the president has attempted to do here, I think is not understanding what the message of the Gospel is. And I’m sorry to hear that but I will continue on what I believe is the mission of the church in the world today.”
I will not enter into debate. The things that I say are certainly not meant as attacks on anyone. The message of the Gospel is very clear: ‘Blessed are the peacemakers.’ I will not shy away from announcing the message of the Gospel and inviting all people to look for ways of building bridges of peace and reconciliation, and looking for ways to avoid war any time that’s possible.”
He went on to underline this while speaking to journalists, saying:
In response to a personal attack by President Donald Trump the night before, Pope Leo told journalists on the papal plane to Algeria:

We have to wonder what JD Vance – an apparently sincere Catholic convert – makes of all this. For him, it must be like mommy and daddy are having a pitched argument while he wraps a pillow around his head and screams to block it out. Vance, for the sake of your immortal soul, you may have to pick a side soon – your God or your boss? Tick tock!
