Donald Trump has hinted at leaving his role as president to become a full-time host instead. The 79-year-old Republican is currently serving his second term in the White House. He asked his followers if they would support him making this career change.
Trump posted on Truth Social to ask whether he should quit the presidency to focus on hosting. This came after he was asked to host the Trump Kennedy Honours. The event honors stars like Sylvester Stallone, Michael Crawford, KISS, George Strait, and Gloria Gaynor.
According to Unilad, he wrote that the Trump Kennedy Center Honors would broadcast on CBS and stream on Paramount+. He said the Board and many Americans requested him to host the event. Trump then asked people to judge his abilities as Master of Ceremony and whether he should leave the presidency to make hosting his full-time career.
Trump’s history with hosting shows makes this proposal less surprising
It’s unclear if Trump is serious about stepping down or just teasing his supporters. However, this wouldn’t be his first time in the entertainment world. It’s been ten years since he left The Apprentice in 2015. The administration has been experimenting with social media content lately, trying different ways to connect with audiences.
The Apprentice ran from 2004 to 2015 with Trump as the host. The show helped boost his fame before the 2016 election. His time on the popular series turned him from a businessman into a household name across America. There have been reports of White House tensions recently, with various stories emerging about the administration’s internal dynamics.
According to Slate, the show made Trump appear to have perfect business skills and massive wealth. This happened even though his businesses had barely survived multiple bankruptcies and faced another one when he joined the show.
Trump left The Apprentice during his first presidential campaign after making controversial comments about Mexican immigrants that NBC disagreed with. The White House has been sharing various video content recently, including holiday-themed posts.
His role hosting Tuesday night’s honors has created controversy. The event was held at the newly renamed Trump-Kennedy Center, which has upset relatives of the late President John F. Kennedy. The center was originally called the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C.
It was built as a tribute to JFK, who was assassinated in 1963. Trump has been involved in disputes about building sizes, showing his continued focus on architectural matters.
The center’s board voted unanimously on December 18 to add Donald Trump’s name alongside Kennedy’s. The building is now officially known as the Trump-Kennedy Center. However, JFK’s family members have spoken out against this change.
Joe Kennedy III, JFK’s grandnephew, said the Kennedy Center is a living memorial to a fallen president. He stated it was named for President Kennedy by federal law and cannot be renamed, just like the Lincoln Memorial cannot be renamed.
