The president of peace is at war. Just days after Donald Trump stood before Congress for his 2026 State of the Union address and boasted that his presidency had ushered in a golden age of strength and stability, the United States and Israel launched another military campaign against Iran.
The president didn’t announce the attack in a formal address from the Oval Office, but rather in an eight-minute video posted to Truth Social at 2:30 a.m., while he was wearing a white USA baseball cap.
The Pentagon then confirmed that the U.S. and partner forces had indeed struck IRGC command facilities, Iranian air defense sites, and Iran’s supreme leader’s house, killing Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in the process.
Now, after two days of heavy fire exchange, the entire Middle East is ablaze, with Iran having conducted missile strikes against U.S. targets and bases in Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Jordan, the UAE, and Saudi Arabia, as well as Israel itself.
The conflict is quickly escalating to a diplomatic point of no return, and even Trump is admitting that more American servicemen deaths are coming — after the announcement that three soldiers were killed as a result of Iranian strikes.
The president had been warned repeatedly that a regional war with Iran would be costly, but now, he’s managing the fallout from the safe confines of his golf resort and using the signature ALL CAPS format to threaten Iran into submission.
“Iran just stated that they are going to hit very hard today, harder than they have ever hit before,” Trump started. “THEY BETTER NOT DO THAT, HOWEVER, BECAUSE IF THEY DO, WE WILL HIT THEM WITH A FORCE THAT HAS NEVER BEEN SEEN BEFORE! Thank you for your attention to this matter! President DONALD J. TRUMP.”

Trump ignored all the signs, because no one can hold him accountable anymore
The signs that this was a bad idea were there. And no, we’re not talking about 30 years of catastrophic military interventionism in the Middle East serving as a masterclass in cautionary tales, one written in blood and taxpayer money. It turns out that people whose job it is to know these things warned Trump about the repercussions.
Per a report by The Washington Post, Join Chiefs Chairman Gen. Dan Caine warned at a White House meeting that any major operation against Iran would face serious challenges, not just due to its missile capabilities, but also because of America’s depleted munitions stockpile thanks to the wars in Ukraine and Israel.
There is a word for what Trump is doing right now, and it is not the word he used to describe himself during the 2024 campaign. Back then, Trump and his allies ran hard against the specter of endless war, warning that voting for Kamala Harris would lead to catastrophic military entanglements in the Middle East.
He has now launched strikes on multiple countries. First the Venezuelan president and now Iran’s supreme leader. And he announced his “massive and ongoing” campaign against Iran from behind a lectern at Mar-a-Lago before going back to his game.
Iran’s succession planning was reportedly accelerated after last summer’s June 2025 strikes, meaning the post-Khamenei regime may be more hardline, not less.
So, thank you, Mr. President. We’re officially at war — a war that could’ve probably been avoided had you not been so desperate to deflect from the Epstein drama and countless other controversies already beleaguering your second term.
