TSA agent did her job and now, Laura Loomer is stressing everyone like her is a ‘national security threat’

Evidently, regular security procedures are humiliating.

Laura Loomer, a far-right activist with a direct line to the White House, just made an incredibly Islamophobic statement. She claims that muslims should be completely barred from working for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), labeling their presence a “national security threat.”

According to Newsweek, Loomer, who describes herself as an independent investigative journalist, wrote on X that she was “disgusted” by the number of Muslims working at the TSA in an Atlanta airport. She added, “Wearing a hijab is a sign someone is sharia adherent. If you support sharia law, you should be banned from working at TSA.”

Her initial comment was absolutely insane: “Every time I travel and a Muslim in a hijab asks to see my passport at TSA, I just want to say ‘f— you. How dare you, take your hijab off and then maybe I will show you.’ I am disgusted that the airport in Atlanta has so many Muslims working in TSA. In fact, I think that’s what I’m going to start saying from now on. It’s a national security threat for Muslims to be working in TSA. Why do I have to go through the humiliation ritual of showing my passport to some Muslima b in a hijab with a heavy accent? I’m done.”

It is literally their job to check identification

These comments carry some serious weight because Loomer has become increasingly influential in right-wing circles, especially since President Trump returned to office. She’s known for her anti-Muslim rhetoric and promoting conspiracy theories about things like COVID-19 and the 9/11 terror attacks. Still, her proximity to the president means her inflammatory views can sometimes translate into real-world impact.

Many of her comments have drawn heavy criticism in the past. In a rather sharp cut down, Stephen King even called her a ‘dog- whistling conspiracy nut.’

There has, unfortunately, been an escalation in anti-Muslim rhetoric from other figures on the right. Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) caused quite a stir when he declared that Muslims “don’t belong in American society.” He’s even gone a step further, introducing a bill called the “Halt Immigration from Countries with Inadequate Verification Capabilities Act,” which aims to prohibit immigration from several countries with predominantly Muslim populations.

Edward Ahmed Mitchell, the National Deputy Director for CAIR, weighed in on the situation, reminding everyone that “The First Amendment guarantees religious freedom to everyone in our nation, including American Muslims.” He also called for the end of the apparent double standard, stating that a comment to another religion would face “condemnation and censure,” but comments against Islam aren’t addressed.

Recently, as part of this, New York saw a ‘stop the Islamic takeover’ protest staged outside Gracie Mansion, the home of Mayor Zohran Mamdani.
