US State Department official is overseeing a chilling plan to rebuild Europe in MAGA’s image

The U.S. State Department is fundamentally changing how it uses American taxpayer dollars abroad, reorienting its foreign funding programs to promote MAGA ideology across Europe actively. This is a massive pivot from the traditional American soft-power approach, which has historically centered on spreading American-style liberalism and democratic ideals across the continent since the postwar era.

State Department officials have already held early discussions with specific, aligned groups about funding as per Politico. This includes France’s Western Arc, a new Paris-based think tank that openly describes itself as “MAGA-inspired,” and Britain’s Free Speech Union, an advocacy group. They are part of a list created by the MAGA-aligned Heritage Foundation.

Paul McCarthy, a Senior Research Fellow at the Heritage Foundation, noted that while the amount of money discussed initially was “tiny,” the program is “really taking off right now” after the U.S. National Security Strategy endorsed the policy of “cultivating resistance” in Europe. That strategy laid out a plan to boost organizations that stood against left-wing “censorship” and migration policies that the administration claims are creating strife on the continent.

That sounds terrifying, and it isn’t a small, low-level plan

U.S. Under Secretary of State Sarah Rogers is reportedly pushing this funding program, specifically focusing on London, Paris, Brussels, and Berlin. She met with Toby Young, the British social commentator who founded the Free Speech Union, back in December. Young stated that the discussions focused on funding the FSU’s sister organizations globally, suggesting that this new initiative might not be confined to European borders.

Samuel Samson, a senior State Department adviser who previously made headlines for suggesting taxpayer funds support far-right French leader Marine Le Pen, is also heavily involved. He traveled to European capitals last May to meet with NGOs and civil society groups.

Groups across the continent are lining up for this potential support, aiming to create a “civilizational alliance,” repurposing American soft-power tools to rebuild the West in their image. Representatives from 10 European think tanks and policy groups aligned with far-right politics described a burgeoning professional ecosystem.

They are looking to cooperate with like-minded groups in the US to push back against “European federalism” and “green transition madness.” They also promote a specific vision for families that excludes trans rights and gay couples while fostering higher birth rates. 

The presence of President Trump in the White House gives these European nationalists and hardline conservatives a powerful champion. Daniele Scalea, President of Italy’s Fondazione Machiavelli, commented that having the U.S. leader align with their views on migration legitimizes their mission on the global stage, even as countries like France and Spain push back against Trump.
