‘Venomous beyond comprehension’: Candace Owens insults Erica Kirk’s request for privacy, explains why it’s okay to forget humanity

Real classy move, Candace.

Candace Owens has had a miserable year. She considered Charlie Kirk her best friend, and her initial reaction to his brutal public murder was one of the more genuine displays of emotion from the right. Since then, she’s been circling the drain, lashing out in all directions as she concocts increasingly wild conspiracy theories around Kirk’s death.

At various times, she’s claimed the suspected killer, Tyler Robinson, is being protected by high-level political figures, accused Israel of assassinating Kirk, implied Kirk’s security detail was in on the plan, and is lately insinuating the French government was in on it. Perhaps the idea that Kirk could be randomly taken out by a lucky shot from a total nobody is just too much to bear?

Erika Kirk, Charlie’s widow (and apparent heir to his organization and mission) is not happy about this, pleading with Owens for both sanity and privacy. But Owens doesn’t really ‘do’ apologies or backing down, so she came at her former best friend’s widow with both barrels:

Kirk explained that the “one thing” she wants to keep private for her family is Charlie’s grave. Whatever your opinion of the Kirks, this seems like a fairly reasonable request. Owens initially says she agrees, but then continues:

“But subjectively, because we are dealing with the subject of Erika Kirk, and what transpired immediately following Charlie’s assassination, this is going to be read as Meghan Markle syndrome. Where you want privacy when you want it, but you want publicity whenever you want it, and that just doesn’t work.”

Owens then points out that Kirk herself posted a video of her husband’s casket:

In the matter of Erika Kirk, this is the same person who had somebody record over Charlie Kirk’s casket. That was not our business, truy, there is some credence to the claim that everybody grieves differently. But the decision to publish that – you crying over your husband’s casket – and to publish that on Instagram was made by Erika.”

Miserable squabbling

There are two options here. One is that Owens genuinely has no social skills, cannot read the room, and genuinely doesn’t see that promoting insane conspiracy theories and personal attacks on a recent widow are objectively not a good look.

The more depressing alternative is that she knows all the above but simply doesn’t care, having concluded that spreading misinformation about her best friend’s death generates traffic and is good for business. Either way, it’s difficult to disagree too hard with the conclusion that:

“She thrives in the drama she creates, and is willing to ride this roller coaster of insanity until it flies off the rails, at which point she’ll portray herself as some kind of victim. This woman is venomous beyond comprehension.”

The worst part is that it’s not even entertaining to watch this showdown. It’s just two sad individuals miserably sniping at each other over a corpse, and when there’s not even a perverse schadenfreude on offer, you can’t help but think all this should be private.
