‘We have solid proof’: Iran warns of ‘dire consequences’ after U.S. support of Israel

Support for their enemy would make some countries targets.

Iran has issued a strong warning to the United States, the United Kingdom, and France, saying that their military bases and ships in the area will be attacked if these countries help stop Iran’s ongoing missile and drone strikes against Israel.

This threat came as tensions rose sharply, with Iran firing a large number of missiles and drones at Israel. These attacks were in response to what Israel called a “shock campaign” of strikes targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites.

“We have solid proof of the support of the American forces and American bases in the region for the attacks of the Zionist regime military forces,” Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, claimed in a meeting broadcast on state TV (per Times of Israel). The United States, however, denied any direct role in Israel’s attacks. Meanwhile, the US President warned Iran that any attack on the US would bring a strong and unprecedented response from the US military. The President also said he hoped for a deal between Iran and Israel to end the violence.

According to The Guardian, the United States has confirmed it is directly involved in stopping the Iranian attacks, with US officials saying their military is actively shooting down Iranian drones and missiles. While France and the United Kingdom are not currently known to be directly helping in these defenses, both countries have said they are willing to do so.

Iran threatens major powers of the world

France said it might join if conditions allow, and the UK has not ruled out sending forces to help. This cooperation would follow past actions, as the US, UK, and France, along with US allies in the region, worked together last year to stop two major Iranian missile and drone attacks on Israel during the conflict in Gaza.

Israel said it acted out of an “existential need to stop the Islamic Republic from getting nuclear weapons.” Despite the size of Iran’s attack, most of the missiles and drones were shot down by Israel’s advanced air defense systems. However, some got through, killing at least 13 people and injuring hundreds in Israeli cities. Many buildings were also damaged.

In the UK, Prime Minister Keir Starmer spoke with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other world leaders, urging calm. Regarding Iran’s threats against countries helping Israel, the UK Prime Minister confirmed that British jets and other assets were in the region for possible support.

He did not give details about whether British forces would join defensive operations, saying decisions were still being made. Reports from London said the UK was not warned in advance about Israel’s initial strikes on Iran, showing strained relations between the two countries. French President Emmanuel Macron said France would consider helping defend Israel if Iran retaliated, as long as France was able to do so.
