‘Weak and ineffective’: Trump’s Pam Bondi frustration boils over as his enemies still somehow enjoying freedom

Trump's lawfare is falling apart, and he thinks Bondi's to blame.

As is increasingly common nowadays, Donald Trump is throwing a hissy fit. Today’s target is Attorney General Pam Bondi, who, even by the low standards of the second Trump administration, is proving to be a liability.

What Trump wanted was an attack dog who’d engage in all-out lawfare with his enemies, using the infinite sources of the United States government to bury those who opposed him in litigation. Their lives should be made miserable, their finances drained, and, ideally, they’d be tossed into a federal prison.

None of that is happening. The prosecutions of James Comey and Letitia James are mired in chaos, with prosecutors understandably wary of being involved in presidential revenge that has nothing to do with justice. Those cases and others are falling apart, and Trump blames Bondi.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Trump has angrily decried Bondi as “weak and ineffective” in carrying out his agenda, demanding that the Justice Department crank up the aggression to new levels. Now, as per the report, Trump is trying to appoint special counsels at the Justice Department who’ll do what Bondi can’t and push forward his private goals.

And then there’s the Epstein files debacle. Trump is said to have agreed that Bondi “whiffed” the release, which saw redacted documents easily readable, conflicting statements on their existence, and gradually drip-feeding them to the press in a way that almost feels calculated to maximize political harm to him.

Time to give her the hairdryer treatment

Trump has apparently summoned Bondi to speak with him personally, explaining his frustrations with her performance. None of this sounds good for her future prospects, so perhaps she’ll be the first Trump appointee to be given the boot?

But, of course, the official story is that all’s well. Bondi’s team insists that “the attorney general is focused on achieving Trump’s goal of making America safe again” and Trump himself said:

“Pam is doing an excellent job. She has been my friend for many years. Tremendous progress is being made against radical left lunatics who are good at only one thing, cheating in elections and the crimes they commit.”

Yeah, right! There’s blood in the water, and we smell a break-up incoming! Pass the popcorn, this is about to get good.
