‘What was going through my mind?!’: Former hardcore Trump fan now ’embarrassed’ they ever supported him

Some serious buyer's remorse is setting in.

Life comes at you fast, but particularly so for Trump voters. A year ago to the day, they were hooting and hollering at Donald Trump‘s inauguration. If they truly believed Trump would do everything he promised, they had every right to be upbeat. It was finally time to Make America Great Again… Again!

Smash cut to the present, and America is further away from greatness than ever. Masked goons patrol the streets enjoying immunity from the law, consumer prices remain sky high, America’s international reputation is in the toilet, and Trump himself is becoming more erratic by the day.

For some, the wool is finally falling from their eyes, particularly with the insane and humiliating saga of Trump being denied a Nobel Peace Prize, using this ‘snub’ as the basis for conquering Greenland, and threatening military action against steadfast European allies.

As a snapshot of a wider sense of buyer’s remorse, one former hardcore Trump voter expressed her frustrations on Reddit:

“You know at this point I just question anybody who still support this man like I regret ever voting for him in 2024 election its beyond embarrassing to see the sitting President of the United States write such a horrible letter to one of our allies in such a manner.”

They go on to predict (probably accurately) that after nine more months of this insanity, the Democrats are going to “steamroll through” the midterms and that Trump is currently happily paving their path to victory through his bizarre decisions.

“I’m embarrassed for myself for ever supporting him”

Most tellingly is a clear sense of shame that they ever publicly supported Trump:

“I wonder what was going through my mind when I first supported him like I campaigned for him went to rallies and even went door to door in my neighborhood to garner support for him and know he did this like I’m embarrassed for myself for ever supporting him.”

Over the coming months, I suspect this is a feeling likely to spread, and that former hardcore fans will suddenly become very quiet over what they did and said during the 2024 election.

It should be remembered that just because someone now cannot support Trump, that doesn’t mean they’ve transformed into a Democrat voter. Most likely, they’ll simply remain at home on voting day or give their vote to a third-party or single-issue candidate.

And when Trump is finally gone, you can bet they’ll be right back at the Republican Party tear gazing starry-eyed at the next incompetent and evil lunatic they put up for election. But for now, take comfort in that Trump’s base is rapidly eroding to a hateful but loud core.
