‘Whatever Christianity she follows’: Menace to society Marjorie Taylor Greene admits God has ‘defeated’ her

Greene admits God is purging evil… wait, Is she talking about herself?

It’s a rare talent to be both wildly out of touch and loudly convinced you’re the voice of God’s will, but Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia has mastered it.

The Georgia representative—whose religious credentials apparently include being able to spell “Bible” correctly on most attempts—took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that “Evil is being defeated by the hand of God” following reports about Pope Francis’s death. Greene seemed to lump the passing of Pope Francis and the resignation of Klaus Schwab, founder of the World Economic Forum, into one grand narrative of God smiting evil.

This isn’t the first time Greene has taken a swing at the Catholic Church, and it likely won’t be the last. She’s made a career out of alienating pretty much everyone, including her own supposed religious allies. In 2022, she accused the Church of being run by “Satan” because of its humanitarian efforts to aid undocumented immigrants. That’s right—feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless is apparently demonic now. Jesus must be thrilled.

Greene’s comments sparked outrage among Catholic leaders, who rightly called her remarks inflammatory and anti-Catholic. But instead of apologizing, she doubled down, claiming she had left the Catholic Church because it failed to protect children from abuse. Now, that’s a valid criticism given the Church’s history of covering up sexual abuse scandals, but Greene didn’t stop there. She weaponized the issue to paint the entire institution as corrupt while conveniently ignoring the rampant scandals and hypocrisy in her own Evangelical circles. What’s truly baffling is Greene’s ability to make herself the victim in every scenario. When Catholic leaders criticized her, she demanded they apologize to her. It’s almost impressive how she can twist reality to suit her narrative. Almost.

Pope Francis’s passing at the age of 88 was a moment of reflection for millions around the world. As the first Jesuit pope and the first from the Americas, he brought a fresh perspective to the Catholic Church, championing progressive causes like climate action, economic justice, and LGBTQ+ inclusion. Sure, he wasn’t perfect (no leader is), but his efforts to modernize the Church and address its scandals earned him widespread respect. Greene, of course, sees none of this. To her, Pope Francis was just another cog in the globalist machine—a man who dared to care about the environment and the poor, which, in Greene’s world, makes you a Marxist enemy of God.

The spectacular irony in Greene’s celebration of “evil being defeated” is that if there were indeed a divine purging of malevolent influences from positions of power, she might want to update her résumé. In any cosmic accounting of those spreading darkness, division, and falsehood, Greene’s ledger would be overflowing with debits.
