‘Wrong guy dummy’: Man with same name as alleged Dallas shooter finds himself being harassed by MAGA

Authorities have now released the name of the alleged shooter who opened fire on the ICE offices in Dallas yesterday. 29-year-old Josh Jahn is suspected of fatally shooting one detainee and injuring two others, but unfortunately a man with the same name has found himself caught in the crossfire as MAGA have swarmed to his socials to harass him.

Josh Jahn (not the suspected ICE shooter) likely woke up yesterday like any regular day, however, things quickly took a turn for the worse after the authorities shared details about the suspected shooter in Dallas. Unfortunately for Josh, the alleged killer shared the exact same name and also looks to be close in age.

Shortly after the news broke, Josh found himself having to explain to people who had stumbled upon his socials that he was not the guy they were seeing on the news. Replying to a post on X from 2018, one person wrote, “RIP BOZO,” to which Jahn responded, “Wrong guy dummy.” 

Some online news outlets have even accidentally used pictures of the wrong Josh in their reporting prompting him to kindly ask them to delete the pictures.

One post from 2017 has received a great deal of attention with many flocking to mock the poor guy despite him not being the alleged shooter. Even after finding out the truth, some people doubled down on their insults simply because of his politics.

MAGA believe this is another case of political violence

What’s worse is that people deduced from his posting history that he was possibly left-leaning and liberal leading the MAGA crowd (who still incorrectly believe him to be the shooter) to conclude that this was just another case of radical leftist violence.

While the victims were ICE detainees, engravings found on the shell casings seem to indicate that this was intended to be an attack on the officers, although admittedly, some people online are having trouble believing that narrative. Regardless, the authorities seem to be suggesting that the shooter is left-leaning.

The non-shooter Josh Jahns also seems to be left-leaning which gives the MAGA cult all the fuel they need to justify their harassment even if he isn’t the shooter. “You’re still a pathetic leftist,” wrote one individual, likely embarrassed after realizing they were stupid enough to harass the wrong guy.

This has no doubt been a wild 24 hours for Josh but unfortunately many people online don’t always think. He has already put a disclaimer in his X bio that states he is “not the ICE shooter,” although it’s doubtful any braindead MAGA followers will stop to read that before leaving their vitriolic comments. One person recommended that Josh make his account private although at the time of writing his account is still public.
