U.S. President Donald Trump reacts to a question from a reporter before signing an executive order in the Oval Office at the White House on September 19, 2025 in Washington, DC. Trump signed two executive orders, establishing the "Trump Gold Card" and introducing a $100,000 fee for H-1B visas. The "Trump Gold Card" is a visa program that allows foreign nationals permanent residency and a pathway to U.S. citizenship for a $1 million investment in the United States. ‘You can’t imitate gold. This isn’t Home Depot stuff’: Trump’s trashy White House décor exposed as… Home Depot stuff

Won't be the first time a confused old man got ripped off by a contractor...

Each day, the White House takes one more step towards becoming Mar-a-Lago ver. 2. Since his second term began, Donald Trump has steadily crammed the place with tasteless golden trash and is demolishing large parts of the structure.

Not too long ago, the Oval Office interior was an understated and restrained room intended to underline that the President serves the people. Now? Well, Marie Antoinette would feel right at home there nibbling on a cake while lying on some ornate chaise longue. Trump is clearly proud of his tastes, giving Fox News’ Laura Ingraham a tour in advance of their interview.

And, puffing up his chest, he explained, “You can’t imitate gold. This is not paint. This is not Home Depot stuff. This is not Home Depot…”

I hope you’re sitting down for this, because as was quickly spotted. Trump’s decor certainly appears to be identical to stuff sold in Home Depot:

“Trump is dumb and surrounded by crooks”

As the poster surmises, “Trump is dumb and surrounded by crooks”, so perhaps he’s been told that he was getting real gold, got given some mass-produced object, and the decorator strolled away with the money.

MAGA immediately stepped into defend Trump (and just for a second recognize how humiliating it must be to defend an old man’s tasteless interior decor), arguing that the Home Depot piece is just a knock-off of the expensive one Trump has!

A little more digging discovered the company that Trump uses either metallic gold-colored paint (which doesn’t even contain gold) or, at best, a micron-thick gold foil that sells for about $9.20 a sheet. So, either way you cut it, the decor Trump uses is actually incredibly cheap. But I bet the mark-up isn’t!

If he’s really getting conned, we’d hate to be in the Oval Office when he discovers his beloved gold fixtures are mass-produced garbage with a couple of bucks worth of gold (if that!) on them…
