A couple told a North Carolina woman they were only feeding the turtles, then she turned her camera to the pond

The woman kept on throwing food into the water.

A woman in North Carolina recently confronted a couple she says she caught repeatedly feeding alligators near her home. Kate, who goes by @kudokate, decided she had seen enough of the alleged behavior after weeks of watching the duo, according to a video she posted on TikTok. She eventually walked over to a bridge where the pair had parked their golf cart to confront them, according to The Nerd Stash.

Kate explained that alligators in the pond are known to cross the street near her home. She added that alligators have been put down after growing too comfortable around humans, as they can then be deemed a danger. The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission says feeding alligators violates state law, as the animals may lose their natural fear of people.

When Kate approached the couple, she asked if they were feeding an alligator. The pair immediately denied the claim and insisted they were only feeding the turtles. However, Kate appeared unconvinced, saying she had been observing them for quite some time.

The couple kept denying it, but Kate’s camera seemed to tell a different story

Kate told them, “You guys know it’s highly illegal to feed alligators, right? It’s against the law and it’s also super dangerous.” The couple nodded and turned back to the water. Kate then pointed out that alligators near the road could pose a risk to children in the community.

The woman in the golf cart shouted back, “No, I’m not!” and told Kate to “leave me the f— alone!” Kate responded by calling them idiots and reiterating that their actions were against the law. As the couple prepared to leave, Kate warned them, “I’m calling the cops. You people are stupid idiots.”

The man denied the feeding once more. However, Kate shifted her camera to the pond, and the footage appears to show an alligator swimming right next to the couple, seemingly waiting for food. Kate then said, “You both are idiots. Do you even live in this community?” The man stayed silent despite the mention of the police. As they drove away in their golf cart, the couple appeared to flip her off. Kate yelled back, “Look at the laws, you dumb f—!”

One commenter wrote, “I hope they get in trouble and you called 911.” Another urged her to “follow up with the appropriate authorities,” adding that the couple “shouldn’t feel this comfortable to do that.”

Alligators wandering close to homes have become a familiar sight on social media, as seen when an alligator crashed a gender reveal in Florida. The commission also warns that feeding other wildlife near water can attract alligators. That guidance could undercut the couple’s turtle explanation, even if their account is accurate.
