‘A ghost pretending to make fart noises’: Woman wakes up to ghostly sounds in castle but the reality is furrier and cuter than expected

TikTok is full of ghost videos, but farting ghost videos is a whole different class.

The idea of encountering a ghost is terrifying enough, but imagine crossing paths with a spirit from beyond the veil while you’re spending the night at a creepy old castle! That’s exactly the predicament one woman on TikTok found herself in when she heard the unholy howling of something from beyond the grave.

The viral clip has garnered 1.3 million views on TikTok and was posted by TikToker “GlamourPossum,” AKA Lauren. In the short clip we see Lauren pointing her camera down the stone corridor of an old castle. The sounds of unearthly shrieking can be heard coming from the direction she’s pointing the camera but nothing can be seen.

The only logical conclusion we can make is that a banshee or poltergeist is roaming the rooms of the old castle. I mean it makes sense right? What else could be making such an awful racket? One viewer described the sound as “a ghost pretending to make fart noises,” actually, do ghosts fart? Can ghosts even fart? We’ve seen plenty of crazy paranormal stuff on TikTok before, but that would truly take the cake.

Anyways, Lauren quickly found out that the source of the noise was indeed something of earthly origin. Panning her camera up to a little nook near the ceiling, what appears to be a rodent can be seen peering down at her from the ancient wooden beams above her head. I’m not sure what’s got him so riled up but he sure seems like one angry little guy.

That’s definitely not a ghost

So what kind of rodent lives in an ancient medieval castle? Well, many viewers suspect the noisy menace to be a dormouse, specifically a loir dormouse, a tiny and undeniably cute little critter. Fun fact: this mouse is also known as the “edible dormouse” because Romans used to eat these little guys as a delicacy, perhaps this little loir saw the ghost of a Roman and that’s why he was screaming so loudly.

Other viewers wanted to know why Lauren was spending the night in a Medieval castle which is a fair question. Turns out she was staying in an old Spanish castle in Catalonia which she has dubbed “Dracula’s Castle.” Well the little mouse may not have been a ghost, but it’s possible he could have actually been a vampire.

It seems little critters like Lauren’s loir friend simply come with the territory when you’re staying in an old Spanish castle. While a noisy mouse can be annoying when you’re trying to sleep it’s definitely better than the alternative: a farting ghost.
