Heartbreak is brutal, but in this modern age it can be crueller than ever before with social media sometimes being the catalyst for a breakup or in some cases, the tool that exposes someone’s infidelity. One man supposedly found out his girlfriend was cheating on him after seeing her and her friends take part in a viral TikTok trend.
The man, who just goes by “G” on TikTok explains that he was just scrolling on TikTok when he saw a video of his girlfriend (presumably posted by one of her friends). In the video they were taking part in the “someone in the car” viral trend.
The trend usually involves a group of people in a car and each takes turns to say “someone in the car,” usually followed by something ridiculous or even illegal that someone in the car has done. Part of the joke of this trend is that they don’t name names although the person’s reaction will often give it away.
According to G, in the video, one of the friends says, “somebody in the car gets sl—ed out every weekend while they have a loving man at home.” G claims that all the other friends are single, so by process of elimination realizes they are talking about his girlfriend.
Understandably the news hit G pretty hard as he struggles to process. He took to the app to share his raw feelings as he admits, “I’ve been staring at a blank screen for three hours.” Being cheated on hurts enough as it is but finding out through a TikTok video feels like twisting the knife. G shared his thoughts in subsequent videos.
People of TikTok offer advice
The comments were quick to offer words of advice to G with some recommending he leave his girlfriend “even if it’s not her,” as they labeled her friends as toxic. Others evidently shared similar woes, “Why is cheating so rampant[?] asked one commenter, “I’m tired.”
A few simply wanted to see the original video that G was talking about with many admitting that they were scrolling through all of the “someone in the car” videos in order to find the exact one he was talking about. Others asked G to post it himself as proof of his experience.
Whatever the case, the incredibly thin silver lining is that at least G knows the truth now and can start the process of moving on healthily. Better to find out now than five years into the relationship. Hopefully he will find someone who doesn’t treat him like that in the future.
