Boston couple has a surprising addition for their wedding album, a picture with the American ‘forefathers’

A viral highlight to an already impactful day.

Boston couple Kyle Higgins and Julia Kallis got an absolutely hilarious and memorable addition to their wedding photos when they ran into a group of colonial “forefathers” right before their ceremony. People Magazine reported that the Bride, Julia Kallis remembers seeing the group and immediately thinking they were part of a serious historical reenactment.

The Bride was initially worried that they were getting in the way of an important event. She even recalled thinking, “I was like, ‘We should get out of the way. It’s the Boston Massacre or something.'” It turns out they weren’t reenacting a bloody historical moment at all. They were actually headed to Emmetts Irish Pub for a themed birthday celebration, which is probably the most Boston detail ever.

Instead of staying out of the way, the costumed crew, complete with colonial outfits, spotted the bride and groom-to-be and decided to crash the party, demanding an impromptu 1700s photoshoot. The hilarious interaction was captured by photographer Greg Whitmer, which he then shared as a reel on Instagram. The group was full of characters, including a man carrying the U.S. flag and someone riding a stick horse dressed as a colonial soldier.

This is the dash of personality that makes an already impactful day, legendary

The couple was totally happy to oblige, and Whitmer’s resulting video quickly blew up online with an impressive 1.6 million views. He captioned the post perfectly, noting, “When your wedding photos in Boston work out perfectly. Great timing. That’s a keeper!” The couple’s official photographers, Thomson and Thomson Photography, also shared the resulting picture.

The internet absolutely loved the spontaneity of the event with many joking about the Bostonian nature of the interaction. While some people redo their weddings to keep the memory enduring, it looks like the internet will keep the memory of this wedding alive.

This great photo op was just one highlight of what sounds like a wonderful day for Kyle and Julia. The couple actually met back in 2021 on the dating app Hinge. Unlike some other disastrous matches, they connected instantly. Thus, even though the encounter went viral, Julia admitted that for them, it wasn’t actually the biggest part of their day. She stated that ‘I think I told one person that we saw these people dressed as Colonial soldiers and took a picture.

The couple exchanged their vows in front of 135 family and friends. Kyle made the moment extra special by placing Julia’s grandmother’s wedding ring on her finger, and they shared their first dance to Frankie Valli’s classic, “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”
