Canadian man’s disappointed reaction to Gordon Ramsay’s famous beef Wellington at Hell’s Kitchen sparks a divided debate in viral TikTok

This man's Hell's Kitchen visit apparently felt like an actual nightmare.

A video of a Canadian man reacting to his meal at Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen restaurant in Las Vegas has gone viral on TikTok. The clip was posted by TikTok user Virginia (@itsvirginiaho), who filmed her boyfriend’s reaction throughout the meal.

In the video, the man appears visibly frustrated. He is seen holding his hands over his head, and at one point warns viewers directly, saying “Do not come here” twice. He then appears to reference the TV show Hell’s Kitchen, saying “I’m on day 3,” a nod to the point in the show where chefs’ patience reportedly wears thin.

Virginia wrote in the caption that she “felt so bad” for her boyfriend, adding, “he was so excited for the beef wellington.”

Gordon Ramsay’s beef Wellington, what the dish is and why it drew attention

The beef Wellington is one of the most well-known dishes served at Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen. According to MasterClass, Ramsay’s version of the British classic features a medium-rare beef tenderloin wrapped in puff pastry with chopped mushrooms and Parma ham.

His variation also includes Dijon mustard, prosciutto, and a savory chive crepe, and the meat is reportedly seared in a cast-iron skillet for color and depth of flavor. Ramsay has remained a prominent public figure beyond his restaurants, and recently warned fans after skin cancer surgery removed a tumor from his face.

The couple’s experience extends beyond just the Wellington, as one commenter on the video said, “His burger was way way way over salted,” to which Virginia replied that “the whole menu was like drinking the ocean,” suggesting the saltiness was a broader issue with their meal.

Many viewers also said they shared the boyfriend’s disappointment. “100% not worth it,” one user wrote. Another called the beef wellington “very overrated,” and a third said they were disappointed when they finally tried it, calling it “beyond overrated.” A separate commenter claimed that “every person that I know, that’s been there has said it was horrible and overpriced.”

However, not everyone agreed, as one commenter said they went to the restaurant twice because the food was “delicious.” Another said they visited in December and that the beef Wellington was “so good” and that they “still think about it.” A user who identified as having visited with their wife said the food was good but noted that “portions were small and the bill was 400 bucks,” describing it as “a novelty restaurant.”

One commenter said they received “2.5 scallops” that were “cut in half to make 5” and were “only seared on one side,” saying they would never return. On the other end, one user said they “loved” their Hell’s Kitchen experience.

The video has apparently drawn attention to a broader conversation about whether Gordon Ramsay’s Las Vegas restaurant lives up to its reputation and its price point. Several commenters suggested that other Ramsay concepts fared better, with one saying “Gordon burger or grill is 100 better” and another writing that “Ramsay Burger is top though.” One user pointed out that the bill “doesn’t fit the below mid food.”

Virginia, the creator of the original video, has continued engaging with commenters. When one user told her they would never go, she replied simply: “Don’t do it.” Neither Ramsey nor Hell’s Kitchen has responded to this bad review.
