A TikTok user who posts as ADAPTIVE (@adaptive98) said in a video that a DoorDash driver came to his home with a McDonald’s order, walked toward the door, then left the bag on rocks between his house and a neighbor’s house. He said he is paralyzed and uses a wheelchair, and that the spot made the food impossible for him to reach.
The first TikTok video, presented as security camera footage, had gained 314,500 views, 27,000 likes, and more than 2,500 comments. On-screen text in that video read, “Door dasher leaves my food in a place so I can’t get it since I’m disabled and in a wheelchair.” He said the delivery happened in the early morning.
He stated the driver pulled up in a white SUV around 6:33 a.m., got out with the bag, and walked toward the front door. He said viewers might think the drop-off would be normal. Instead, he said, she turned back, put the food on a rock between the two houses, returned to her vehicle, and drove away.
Follow-up video says the order was for his 77-year-old mother
His caption on the first video said the driver left the order “on top of some rocks that is literally impossible for me to get in my wheelchair” and that in all his years of ordering DoorDash, this had never happened.
In a follow-up TikTok video in response to a comment from @Kim DeVore-Sicklovan, he said he often orders from DoorDash and spends a lot with the company, but he did not place this order. He said his mother ordered the McDonald’s. He described her as disabled and 77 years old. He said she had just gotten out of the hospital after breaking her hip.
He said she expected the driver to come to the door and use the usual code handoff. He said she waited at the door, and that did not happen. He said she then asked him to get the food because it had been left at the neighbor’s house. Similar drop-off disputes have included a driver laughing at a customer.
He pointed to a curb and a rock outdoors and said that was where the bag was left. He panned to show his front door and said it was a significant distance from the rock. He said bushes on either side blocked him from reaching the bag from the driveway in his wheelchair.
He said he is “really p—-d off” and “livid.” In the first video, he said, “Like she literally almost, like, you could have just left it anywhere close to the door, I could have got it. But no, no, no, no, no, you leave it in a place that’s impossible for me to get.” He added that it was 6 in the morning, and he could not call neighbors for help.
He said in the follow-up video that he had to knock the bag down from the rock and watch it tumble to his feet to retrieve it. He said that food was for his mother after her hospital stay. He stated the problem was the DoorDasher’s fault, not DoorDash as a company, but still told the company to “do something, do better.”
DoorDash left a comment on the first video that read, “We messaged you! Please check your DMs when you can!” As of the follow-up, he had not shared a public update on what action, if any, was taken after that message.
Viewers focused on the driver’s path to the door and then back toward the street. One commenter wrote, “She was going to take it till she saw the camera.” Another wrote, “What was the purpose?? I think she planned on taking it but changed her mind.”
Other commenters treated it as odd drop-off behavior and urged a report or a change in delivery settings. One wrote, “I hope you reported her.” Another wrote, “Change your delivery to contact delivery.” A further comment said, “This is weird behavior. Why would she walk all the way to the door then take it back to the road? I dont get it. I hope you turned her in.” That call to report the dasher is also central to this wheelchair user’s DoorDash complaint.
