DoorDasher is told to ‘hurry up’ over a $5 tip. Then the customer calls him a ‘little maid’ so he turns the order into a mukbang

A DoorDash delivery driver decided to eat a customer’s food himself after the customer allegedly told him to “hurry up” and then called him a “little maid.” The driver, known online as Aaron or by his handle @archgelic, shared the story in a TikTok video where he ate the food as a mukbang, a video format where a person eats a large meal on camera.

Aaron, who has 64.5K followers and 13.7M likes on his account, said he was picking up two orders for the same customer, whom he referred to as AJ. One order was from McDonald’s and the other was from Starbucks, located about 400 meters apart.

Aaron said he received a message from AJ telling him to hurry up right after he got into his car. He said he responded with laughing emojis, since he felt being told to hurry up over a $5 tip was “a little rude.” His viral video has gained 1.2 million views.

According to Aaron, AJ then asked what was funny about the laughing emojis. Aaron said he replied that it was funny because he was already delivering the food and would get it when he got it. He said he told AJ, “I’m not gonna speed through traffic for $5, I’m not gonna speed through traffic for $40.” Aaron said AJ then replied, “all right, I’ll be waiting.” He said he sensed tension building in the conversation at that point. 

Aaron said AJ then sent two more messages. One said thanks for being his “little maid” for the day. The other said he had reported Aaron. Aaron said he read the messages in the order of the report comment first, followed by the maid comment. Disputes like this aren’t unique to food delivery apps, a different driver recently described an unresolved tip and rating dispute after a customer flagged an order as missing.

Aaron said his first reaction to being told he was reported was to question why he would continue the delivery without getting paid for it. He then said the sentence that appears in the video title: “Thanks for being my little maid today and delivering my food. I reported you, by the way.”

Aaron said that after reading the “little maid” comment, he decided not to deliver the food. He said he told AJ, “yeah, you’re not getting your food, free eats.” AJ responded by calling him rude, according to Aaron.

Aaron said he believed that if he had gone through with the delivery, the interaction could have turned hostile. He said he felt AJ was acting as if he had authority over him, which he said he was not willing to accept. Instead of delivering the order, Aaron ate the McDonald’s and Starbucks items himself on camera as part of the video, thanking AJ for what he called sponsoring the meal.

The video’s comment section filled up with viewers questioning AJ’s approach to the situation. One commenter named terrina asked, “Why would u tell him u reported him BEFORE you get your food like??” The comment received 2,088 likes and sparked three replies from other users.

Another commenter took the reaction further, joking about what they would have done in Aaron’s position. The user wrote, “I woulda walked to his house and start eating in front of him,” a comment that gathered 32.4K likes, making it one of the most popular reactions on the post.  Tense driver-customer exchanges have shown up in other viral posts too, including one where a customer said he found a video of the driver laughing at him after picking up his order.

Some commenters focused on AJ’s decision not to tip at all. A user named lakefromchicagoradio wrote, “Ya 1st mistake was accepting the order $5 no tip?” alongside a skull emoji, and the comment picked up 2,255 likes and 17 replies. Another user named etherealmagik joked about a different way Aaron could have handled the delivery, writing, “would’ve delivered an empty bag” with a laughing emoji, which received 1,553 likes and five replies.
