Dutch Bros customer compares $7 no-ice drink against regular iced order: ‘they charged me more for this’

'Turns out, ice takes up space'

A Dutch Bros run turned into a hands-on test after one customer became frustrated with how much ice was packed into his drink. Instead of leaving it at that, he ordered the same drink again without ice and compared the two cups for himself.

The customer, who posts under the handle @s.d.russ_ on TikTok, filmed himself from inside his car holding two cups of the same drink, a Double Rainbro. One was his original order. The other was a second drink he says he bought after asking Dutch Bros to leave the ice out entirely.

“So I went to Dutch Bros. And they gave me this f****g thing, like, Double Rainbro,” he says at the start of the clip, gesturing at a cup that appears mostly filled with ice. “And this is the f**k amount of ice they gave me.”

He orders the same drink without ice to see the difference

He says that led him to order the same drink again, this time specifying no ice. The second order, according to him, cost noticeably more. “So I decided to get another Double Rainbro, said no ice, and they charged me more for this,” he says. “Like, this was like five something. This is like seven something.”

It is not the first time a Dutch Bros customer has taken a closer look at what ended up in their cup. One shopper previously did exactly that after she found something sitting at the bottom of her drink.

He then puts the two drinks to the test. Holding the two cups together, he pours the no-ice drink into the one still packed with ice. “Look how much can fit in here, right? Ready? Look at that. Look at that, look at that,” he says as he pours, before reacting: “What the f**k, dude? Holy s**t!”

In the comments, several viewers said they had run into similar experiences at Dutch Bros and other chain coffee shops. “That’s why I do blended,” one commenter wrote. Another said experiences like this were what pushed them away from Dutch Bros and Starbucks entirely, writing, “This is why I stopped going to Dutch and Starbucks.. corp greed is f***n disgusting.”

A third commenter offered a practical explanation for the higher price, writing, “cause no ice means more product. means more cost. duh.” Others remembered when Dutch Bros drinks were cheaper. One commenter wrote, “member when a large coffee was $3 from Dutch and every 11th drink was free? I remember.”

Dutch Bros has not publicly addressed the video or the price difference the customer describes. It is also unclear whether the higher price reflected an official policy, another adjustment to the order, or something specific to that purchase.

The video does not establish why the second drink cost more, but the price difference is what ultimately led him to compare the two cups. Unexpected charges can also become much more noticeable once customers start looking closely at their receipts, as one Olive Garden diner did after checking the cost of a side of sauce on her bill.

For this customer, though, the issue became clear once he poured one drink into the other and saw how much room the ice had been taking up.
