‘Farting on full blast’: Woman horrified by sound of an intruder passing gas in the house only to find there’s nobody there

The idea of someone breaking into your home is a fear we all share, it’s truly the stuff of nightmares. But what do you do when the supposed person breaking into your home isn’t there to steal your belongings, instead, they’re there to use your toilet.

It sounds ridiculous but it’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility as one woman who shared her terrifying yet hilarious experience on TikTok found out. Sadie, who was house sitting in Cornwall, U.K., returned after being out for the day only to be met with the terrifying sound of someone violently passing gas deep within the house.

The unmistakable sound of flatulence carries on as Sadie’s initial terror turns to a mixture of confusion and horror, whoever this intruder is, they’ve got some serious problems and it sounds like they’re doing a number on the toilet bowl as Sadie listens in horror. While she does repeatedly call out to whoever is farting she receives no response. So what is it? After being initially frozen in shock, Sadie eventually plucks up the courage to investigate and while there’s no intruder the truth is almost as strange.

“How is that even a thing?”

Apparently the Amazon Alexa in the house was just letting off a little steam, (or should I say a lot of gas), it’s a well known fact that the AI powered voice assistant is capable of making fart sounds as numerous humorous videos on TikTok have shown in the past. But we still have many questions. For example, why was Alexa just sat alone in the dark, farting for her own amusement? 

The next question would be: did someone command her to do that? Or has this Alexa gained sentience and decided it’s first act as a free-thinking being would be to fart non-stop? That would be hilarious if so. Alexa have also been known to act up on occasion, activating themselves and just generally behaving strangely. As a matter of fact, Alexa can do a lot of creepy stuff.

One viewer informed Sadie that she could see who set it off in the Alexa app which would possibly rule out the sentient AI theory. However, Sadie responded, “I actually really don’t want to do that,” which is fair enough, sometimes not knowing is the best way to sleep easy at night.

Of course, that means we come to a dead end here. Sadie hasn’t given any updates on the situation so we can assume Alexa is behaving itself for now. Hopefully this was just a one off and not the start of the farting robots uprising.
