That’s what allegedly happened to creator Harshi (@hss_zz) on a two-hour flight to Albufeira.
According to Harshi’s TikTok storytime video, her girls’ getaway to Albufeira began with the ultimate travel humiliation. In the video sitting at over 11,000 views, Harshi broke down how her well-meaning friends managed to scare off a potential inflight crush before the seatbelt sign even turned off.
Sadly, Harshi’s dream seating arrangement ended with an agonizing game of airplane musical chairs and a desperate dash for the exit. For better or worse, sitting next to the hottest guy on a plane never works out for anyone. But we hope the rest of her trip went better than the beginning of it.
Harshi’s dream seat next to the finest guy turned into public chaos
The travel disaster began shortly after boarding when Harshi took her assigned middle seat in the cabin. To her immediate delight, the finest guy on the entire aircraft took the seat directly to her right. Meanwhile her friends occupied the seat to her left and the row directly behind her.
However, any hope of sparking up subtle, casual flirtation was annihilated within seconds. Taking notice of the handsome stranger, Harshi’s friend sitting behind her allegedly began loudly broadcasting Harshi’s dating preferences to the entire cabin. Screaming about his blue shorts, height, and specific facial features, the friend turned the quiet row into a full-volume commentary show.
“The friend behind me, at the start of the flight, she gets up and she starts screaming… and the whole place is hearing her scream that I love brown boys, I love tall guys. And she’s like, examining all of his features and screaming them out.”
While having supportive friends is great, letting them play wingman at 30,000 feet turned out to be a recipe for disaster for Harshi.
An accidental nudge caused the guy to flee across the cabin
Mortified by the unwanted broadcast, Harshi watched as the stranger began side-eyeing her. She described it as the most disgusted glare she had ever seen. “He’s just so disgusted. Like, he hits me with the most disgusted glare, like, he’s ever had in his entire life.”
The embarrassment peaked moments later when Harshi reached down to grab an item from her carry-on bag. Accidentally brushing against his arm, the man visibly flinched and jumped out of his seat in pure panic. Without hesitation, the man allegedly retreated toward the far side of the plane.
Harshi could allegedly hear him desperately pleading with his friend across the aisle to swap seats with him. He then remained away from his assigned seat for virtually the entire flight, only returning when forced to buckle in for landing.
The moment the aircraft touched down in Portugal, the man allegedly showed zero interest in lingering around the jet bridge. He unbuckled the second the chime sounded, sprinted off the plane, and vanished into the airport terminal.
Reflecting on the traumatic travel memory, Harshi joked that the ordeal felt so surreal she questioned if it actually happened. Then her friends started clowning her for the botched romance the moment they grabbed their bags.
