When Charley, a golden retriever, attended his first day at doggy day care, his pet-mom expected heartwarming pictures documenting the new friends he made. Instead, what she received, as updates through the day, was photographic evidence of a gleeful, flying menace, showing a very different story of his attempts at socialisation.
As Newsweek noted, the photos ended up being a hilarious TikTok montage of Charley’s playful, albeit chaotic spirit, and his owner just couldn’t resist sharing the pictures online. The result: a documentation of how Charley doesn’t do anything halfway. The photos show him leaping into the air with incredible energy, stretching his paws out like he’s trying to catch a cloud, and baring his teeth in what looks like pure, unadulterated glee.
Rather than seeing proof of the usually gentle, loving, and joyful nature of the breed, the owner was instantly confronted with pictures of Charley “terrorizing everyone at day care.” The owner definitely saw the funny side of the golden retriever’s not-so-photogenic behavior, joking in the comments that Charley clearly doesn’t know how to interact with other dogs because he “looks like he hasn’t played in years.”
I personally think that Fluffy Baby is set to be Gotham’s new protector
Charley’s owner even suggested that Charley looked more like “a flying predator” than a fluffy puppy, especially since he loves using his paws to scare other dogs and people. However, she was quick to clarify that Charley was “having so much fun” at the day care facility. They added a note explaining that he especially loves playing “bitey bites” with his new friends. It seems like his love language is just pure, high-octane play wrestling!
The internet absolutely couldn’t get enough of this dog’s unusual attempts at socialization and mischief. The post quickly went viral, racking up well over 168,500 views and more than 19,700 likes. Social media users were obsessed with his flamboyant style, leading to more than 90 comments on the post.
Many people lauded his unusual attempts to make new friends. Commenters were quick to note his unique poses. One person joked, “Umm that’s not a dog that’s a pterodactyl.” Another user was impressed by his technique, writing: “I see your dog is trained in mantis style.” Someone else simply summed up the energy that Charley brought to the facility, adding: “Charley came to PLAY. Love this.”
It’s clear that while Charley might not be the most composed or photogenic dog at day care. The silly floof has instead embraced behaviour that is not the norm for his species, like these poor pitbulls who got scared of a bag. But, he certainly brings the energy!
