‘Happy he didn’t show up’: Father of bride-to-be berates daughter for planning her wedding on the same day as lame annual car show

Car show, or daughter's wedding? Tough call for this father of the year.

Your wedding day could very well be one of the most important days of your life. It’s one of the few events that takes precedence over everything else and while it may not be everyone else’s priority, it certainly should be the father-of-the-bride’s top priority to be there.

Some dads are great, others, not so much. for one unlucky woman on TikTok, her father would rather go to a local car show than be there for her special day. As a matter of fact, he actually berates her for planning her wedding on the same day as the motor event, implying it’s her fault if he can’t make it. Talk about being a great parent.

Hannah posted the clip to TikTok and in it, we can hear her father speaking over the phone. “The day you’re getting married is the biggest f—ing event of the whole summer every year, it’s the end of the world Rod Run,” he tells her. It’s clear he expects her to change the date of her wedding solely for him but Hannah tells him to just go to Rod Run which only makes her father angrier.

At this point, Hannah’s fiancé steps in, telling the father, “you’re bringing up f—ing Rod Run when that has nothing to do — because that’s an every year thing — and that has nothing to do because we don’t get married every f—ing year.” This father of the year then threatens to physically assault the fiancé.

Is Rod Run really worth it

If you don’t know what Rod Run is then you may be wondering what’s so great about it that a man would willingly miss out on his daughter’s wedding to be there. Well it’s certainly nothing special, in fact, it’s nothing more than a classic car show that’s held throughout the year. “I just looked up rod run. That is the most divorced activity I’ve ever seen.” Wrote one person on TikTok, “Rod run sounds like a giant circle jerk if you ask me.”

Of course, the comments were filled with praise for Hannah’s fiancé who stood up to his father-in-law without batting an eye. “It’s harder than you think to tell off your father in law like this,” commented one viewer, “idk your man but after this, one thing I do know about him is he’s a keeper,” added a second.

It seems like Hannah’s father ultimately didn’t come to his daughter’s wedding in the end but truth be told, that sounds like no great loss. One significant detail that she also mentions in the caption is that her father had lied at first, claiming that the date of their wedding was his father’s death date, probably hoping that would prompt them to change it. Hopefully his little car show was worth it.
