Houston man orders fried chicken from Popeyes. Then he allegedly finds a used condom baked right into his meal

Activists said, when contacted, police found it "funny."

A Houston man alleges he found what appeared to be a fried condom inside a piece of Popeyes chicken. Now, community activists have demanded an investigation after police initially declined to take a report. According to Houston Stringer, the customer claims he found the foreign object baked directly into his fried chicken after ordering a meal from the Popeyes on South Sam Houston Parkway West.

Reportedly, after discovering the alleged condom, he documented what he found on video, sought medical attention, and attempted to file a police report, the police turned him down. The allegations have not been independently verified, and no law enforcement agency has publicly confirmed the customer’s claims.

Houston activists Dr. Candice Matthews and Quanell X visited the restaurant on July 27, where they met with management and called for a full internal investigation. To ensure public safety, the activists urged the restaurant to pause all chicken sales at the location and called on police leadership to designate a detective to formally investigate the matter.

According to Quanell X, the police found it “funny”

Speaking to a crowd gathered at the restaurant, Quanell X, a longtime Houston civil rights activist and president of the New Black Panther Nation, also criticized the response the customer allegedly received when contacting police. “What was sad,” he said, according to video shared on social media, “when the young brother called the police; the police thought it was funny and said, well, there’s been no crime committed.”

Quannell X added, “So we can’t give you a report.” Quannell X then said that Doctor Matthews, founder of the Justice for Black Lives organization, had to “get on the cops and make them take a report.”

During the same appearance, Quanell X alleged the condom appeared to have been used, adding, “You have some freak in the kitchen.” Authorities have not publicly confirmed the nature of the object or whether any criminal offense occurred.

Houston Stringer reported that Quanell X said his concerns focus on the specific restaurant involved rather than the Popeyes brand as a whole. He said the company and investigators should determine exactly what happened at the location.

Popeyes also has not publicly responded to the allegations. It also remains unclear whether the Houston Police Department has indeed opened an investigation or whether any findings have emerged from the report activists said officers ultimately accepted.
