‘Plane to the stage’: On a flight to Las Vegas, flight attendant had to physically restrain a passenger. Then she became the hook on an EDM track

EDM has, in the past, taken iconic lines from pop culture or life and turned out bangers, but what happens when it features you? Sophie, the flight attendant, just had to answer this question when DJ Bou found himself impressed by her during a British Airways flight to Las Vegas. The Manchester-based DJ had just taken his seat when a passenger began causing disturbance, leading to a tense standoff that eventually moved from the cabin to the club.

In the video that has over 3.6 million views on Instagram and TikTok, Bou shared a clip filmed by his tour manager in another section of the plane. Bou claimed, “All I could hear was a load of noise coming from the back from some drunken idiot.” When the clip of the fight begins, Sophie is standing between two much bigger men. She is physically holding them apart, bracing against the aggressor, firmly and loudly commanding, “Stay seated! Stay seated! Stay seated!”

Sophie then maneuvered the unruly passenger into his seat, repeatedly telling him, “Sit down.” When he attempted to lunge at the other passenger, she grabbed him and warned, “I will be restraining you, sir. I will be restraining you, sir.” Bou was clearly impressed by her composure, narrating, “Fair play to the air hostess here. Because she absolutely held it down. And she was doing the most out of everyone. So big love to her. British Airways, you lot need to give her a raise.”

He was escorted down. She was taken higher

Bou filmed the moment the police escorted the man off the aircraft, allowing the flight to finally leave. However, Bou was inspired and decided to sample her firm commands from the flight. In the caption for the video, she told his followers that the video showed, “Stay Seated (the process).” The post then shows him in his seat, arranging the track, declaring, “But best believe your boy had to sample that s—.”

“Here’s where it gets mad,” Bou told his followers. “So she actually followed me on Instagram already and saw my story and said, ‘This is me. You’re on my flight.’” He then edited in a picture of the both of them stating, “So we ended up taking a picture together. And I ended up inviting her back to my show.” 

His post ended with a clip of his set, where he introduces her to his audience. As the track plays, she fills in the hook, “Stay seated,” live. She then danced behind him as the entire dance floor erupted to her voice. 

The internet hasn’t been able to get enough. One fan captured the sentiment perfectly, commenting, “From the plane to the stage…. Literally.” Another user added, “That flight attendant is a legend. What a hero. Everyone appreciate your flight attendants because they have to put up with this s— and remember their real job is to save your life in an emergency!” 

Other listeners are already asking for more, with one saying, “Can you sample ‘ I will be restraining you sir’ for track two.” Someone else noted the irony of the situation, writing, “The irony of her saying ‘stay seated’ as I’m headbanging round the room to that filthy bass.”

Now, we don’t know why the passenger was actually disruptive, or if he was even drunk. All we know is that he was definitely escorted off the plane. This viral moment, while fun, highlights a much broader issue in the aviation industry. According to Business Insider, incidents involving unruly passengers have remained a significant problem since the pandemic. 

Data from the Federal Aviation Administration reportedly shows that there were nearly 6,000 reports in 2021, a massive jump from the previous year. The number of incidents has been trending downward, with 1,205 reports recorded up to September 28 of 2025. However, the issue remains a priority for airlines. In one instance, a United passenger tried to open a plane door mid-flight.

The International Civil Aviation Organization defines a disruptive passenger as someone who fails to follow rules or instructions, thereby disturbing the order of the flight. Business Insider categorizes these behaviors into four levels. 

They reported that the first level involves verbal disruption, such as swearing or refusing to follow crew instructions. For instance, a Delta passenger recently got arrested after she forced the flight back to the gate. The second level involves physical abuse, like grabbing or hitting. The third level is life-threatening behavior, including the use of weapons. The fourth and most serious level involves attempting to breach the cockpit.

Sophie handled a high-pressure situation with incredible professionalism, and it got her a surprise reward. As one TikTok user summed it up, “You turned her s— day at work to the best night of her life.”
