‘I was alone’: Woman warns others after she ordered Uber Eats and two men showed up at her door

She warned women to be careful when ordering Uber Eats.

An Uber Eats customer has warned women to remain vigilant when ordering food through the delivery service. In a video on TikTok, the woman claimed that she was left feeling concerned for her own safety after her food courier somehow got past the lobby and up to her apartment door. She also claimed that there were two men, prompting her to suspect that they may have been planning something.

“This is a PSA to any woman that orders Uber Eats, DoorDash, any type of food service,” Ang warned viewers on TikTok. She said she had ordered Uber Eats and claimed that in her apartment building “we’re supposed to get a phone call or text letting us know that there is a person visiting us.”

However, Ang did not receive a phone call or a text. Instead, she got a knock at the door, and when she answered, she found herself face to face with two men standing outside her front door.

Ang claimed that her order was not big and “didn’t require any communication,” as it was a single bowl of pho. “In my brain, I’m, like, freaking out. Grab the food, shut the door, lock it.” Thankfully, the men didn’t do anything. She later claimed that her dog barking at the door might have deterred them.

Ang had her suspicions about the Uber Eats couriers

Anyone who’s ordered from a food delivery app likely knows that you typically only get one courier to show up with your food. It’s certainly unusual for two to show up at someone’s door. Ang believed that the delivery men had malicious intentions. “They probably saw that, number one, I had a girl’s name. And then number two, it was a singular order.” Ang suspected that the man “assumed I was alone.”

While she admitted she could be overreacting, she asked why it would take “two men to make a singular order.” Commenters on TikTok agreed, telling her it’s better to be safe than sorry. “Always go with your gut,” wrote one person, adding, “you can never be too safe.”

Others in the comments shared their own horror stories about ordering food. Many women claimed that they had been asked inappropriate questions by food delivery men, from asking if they were home alone to asking if they could use the bathroom; there is a whole list of bizarre and invasive questions delivery men have allegedly asked.

Ang claimed she spoke to the receptionist in her building’s lobby to ask why she let the men up, but claimed the other woman seemed to not care. She also claimed she contacted Uber Eats, but all she was told was that the courier would be reminded of the community guidelines. To be safe, Ang claimed she had since changed her name on Uber Eats.
