The job of a delivery driver is tougher than it looks. You wouldn’t think so, but you must be prepared for all sorts of perils on the job from bloodthirsty dogs to ICE agents waiting to spring a trap. Well now delivery drivers can add turkeys to the list of foes they must fight while on the job as one TikTok shows a UPS driver doing his best to avoid a gang of the flightless birds chasing him from truck to door and back again.
In a now viral clip, which has already received well over 30 million views, the UPS driver can be seen charging up an icy street with a package in hand. The camera pans to the left to reveal two sinister looking turkeys prowling around the truck. As the man returns to the truck the devious birds appear to lunge at him as he hops in the open door.
The turkeys are out for revenge
From inside the truck he can be heard yelling, “Made it!” laughing from the safety of the vehicle. As he prepares to make another dash to another door he yells at the birds, “Y’all better back up!” followed by an exasperated, “I’m 40 years old, I can’t be dealing with this!”
After a brief few moments of relative safety, the man then slides out the driver-side door and sprints towards the next door with the turkeys close behind. Hindy, the woman who recorded the slapstick scene unfolding on her street can be heard laughing from the safety of her balcony.
Maybe those turkeys were just expecting a package of their own? Who knows but the delivery man wasn’t sticking around to find out, that’s for sure.
Give this UPS driver a raise
We often give delivery drivers a hard time for their methods of delivery. Too many times we’ve seen drivers carelessly chuck fragile boxes in the vague direction of the intended door or leave the package in an inconvenient or downright dangerous spot.
But this guy is dedicated to the cause, he’s one of the good delivery drivers. Sure, those turkeys might not have posed a real threat to life, but in an age where it seems some drivers do the bare minimum, this guy did everything he could to make sure those packages made it to the right doors. He even sounded like he was having fun despite the additional and unnecessary cardio as he can be heard giving out a loud whoop as he dives back into the truck. Maybe those turkeys weren’t so bad after all.
