A woman has complained about her pharmacist on TikTok after they accused her of “trying to drug seek,” despite the fact that she had done nothing wrong and had been on the medication for 4 years without incident.
The American healthcare system is a nightmare, when it’s not actively killing patients through neglect, it’s making clerical errors which make things harder for people.
The woman on TikTok, who goes by the name “Shockey,” explained that, through some sort of mix-up, her medication, “that happens to be a controlled substance,” was somehow sent out to two pharmacies, something which she states was “completely out of my control.” Upon calling her regular pharmacy Shockey was met with wild accusations from a smug pharmacist who told her “I’m not your drug dealer.”
The whole interaction evidently left Shockey feeling upset and persecuted for something which was entirely out of her hands. To be accused of drug seeking when all she claims she’s trying to do is get her medication like usual seems incredibly harsh and uncalled for. It raises questions over why the communication between pharmacies and doctors is so bad? Surely finding the cause of the issue would have been simple enough without having to resort to accusing the woman of abusing drugs.
Viewers expressed support for Shockey, one person referred to the drug dealer comment writing, “that’s literally her job.” Others offered up their own rude encounters with pharmacists overstepping the mark.
The full story
In a second video, Shockey explains further, stating that her prescription was a specific kind that pharmacies only had a limited number of patients that they could take on. The pharmacy she got her prescription from was the only one nearby that she could get it from and even then it’s an hour round trip.
Anyways, somehow, one dose of the medicine was sent to her regular location while another was sent elsewhere. This raised a red flag as the mishap led them to discovering that Shockey had other prescriptions for different conditions at a different pharmacy. Due to there being two active prescriptions from two different locations being picked up on the same day it led the pharmacist to come to a hasty conclusion that she probably shouldn’t have.
Viewers recommended that Shockey report the incident due to the unprofessional nature with which she had been spoken to, however, she stated that she felt she couldn’t as it was the only location nearby that she could get the prescription from.
Despite this, viewers still urged Shockey to report it. One person shared their own experience writing, “im [sic] begging go you to report this still.” wrote one, “i had to report my old pharmacist for yelling at me in front of other patients.” They claimed that the report led to a new, much friendlier pharmacist being hired, suggesting maybe the same would happen for Shockey if she reported the incident.
