‘Is he bothering you?’: Woman unlocks new level of fear control after finding giant spider chilling on her head

Spiders. Our arachnid friends have always elicited a fear response in humans. Maybe it’s the number of legs, or how fast they move. Whatever it is, many people just don’t like them, especially when they get in your personal space.

One woman on TikTok was forced to face her fears after a spider decided to crash into her life in the rudest way possible, by crawling over her head. “Details_bychels” (or just Chelsea) found herself in a scary predicament after seeing a huge spider crawling over her. Keeping calm she decided to pull her phone out and record as she tried to locate the eight-legged beast. Unfortunately for her the thing had opted to set up shop right on top of her head.

To be fair to Chelsea, she’s able to keep herself incredibly calm upon the shocking discovery that a spider the size of a gerbil is sitting in her hair. “This is a new level of fear control” she states as the behemoth arachnid sits calmly on top of her. Most people would definitely panic and flail around like a headless chicken if they were in her situation. 

A spider that big is sure to provide plenty of nightmare fuel, however, Chelsea is able to keep it together and even tries to calmly pick the spider up before it falls down her face and presumably onto the floor.

TikTok commends her courage

Many were shocked by the sheer size of the spider with one viewer noting how “you can see its eyes.” Another wrote, “I felt sick watching that.”

But the most incredible part of the video was how graceful Chelsea handled her spider friend. “I have never been so proud or in complete awe of a total stranger.” Wrote one person, adding, “you handled this with a dignity and grace that I do not possess.” ANother viewer seconded that, writing, “you are a braver woman than I will ever be.”

While spiders can be terrifying, they’re almost entirely harmless. The one recorded by Chelsea appears to be a common house spider, (albeit a very big one), they are found all over the U.K. Specifically this may be a Cardinal Spider, one of the biggest species found in the country as they can grow up to 12CM in length.

According to the HSDOnline, Cardinal spiders are harmless, while they can bite, they’re non-venomous and their bites are pretty much painless. Of course, all these facts won’t change people’s minds about spiders, but hopefully people will learn to react more like Chelsea when confronted with a massive arachnids such as the one she encountered.
